Middle East Conflict | Netanyahu orders strikes on Gaza (p1161)

Starmer won't do anything because the UK is in just as much thrall to the US as Israel is

There's no other reason

Starmers won’t do anything against Israel he’s going to standby and watch the slaughter he’s had it at the next election as bad as Johnson was as PM, I feel having lots of his own children he would not have been able to watch Palestinian children suffer for as long as Starmer
This Boris Johnson?

Boris Johnson accuses UK Labour of ‘abandoning Israel’

Former prime minister asks if the British government “want Hamas to win” after it partially suspends arms sales to Israel.

Boris Johnson: Shameful to call for UK to end arms sales to Israel

WHEN BORIS JOHNSON LET ISRAELI WARPLANES VISIT ENGLAND

Many of the bombs Israel drops on Gaza are fired by F-15 fighter jets, whose pilots came to Britain for a military exercise.

Boris Johnson says Starmer ‘wants Hamas to win’ in Israel war

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Britain’s decision to suspend some arms sales to Israel was ‘shameful’ in a major blow to relations between the two countries

Classy as ever from our beloved allies. No doubt a load of lies and bullshit to try and justify their latest major terrorist attack:

Another country bombed by israel. Another ceasefire broken by israel. And of course there will be zero consequences because they've bribed and blackmailed western politicians and they have too much influence in our media

Now to sit back and wait for the next deplorable israeli terrorist attack

Nicely done whilst the world gazes at the next chapter of spurned lover and the Mango Mussolini.

I was appalled by Starmer's reply to a question from a SNP member: "Will he repeat from the Dispatch Box what he told his lawyers to argue in the High Court—that he believes that no genocide has occurred or is occurring in Gaza?"

Starmer: "I have said that we are strongly opposed to, and appalled by, Israel’s recent actions. We have been absolutely clear in condemning them and calling them out, whether that is the expansion of military operations, settler violence, or the dreadful blocking of aid—it is completely unacceptable. We must see a ceasefire, hostages must be released, and there must be aid into Gaza. However, the hon. Gentleman talks about peace and security. As I understand it, at this moment of global instability as we go into a new era, what does his party want to do? It wants to get rid of the nuclear deterrent—the single most important capability that we have to keep the UK safe—harming the industry and harming the country."

Didn't answer the question, and what has a UK nuclear deterrent got to do with Israel's genocide? Never mind war crimes, we're making bombs to create jobs.
Maybe he feels you are well on your way to helping along the start of WWIII.

“ I would like to thank you and the hundreds of constituents who have contacted me regarding Gaza and the West Bank in the 18 months since the October 7th attacks.

I welcome the actions taken last month by the Prime Minister and the Foreign Secretary to impose targeted sanctions in response to the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

These are necessary steps that reflect our commitment to upholding international law and basic human rights. Israel has a right to defend itself against terrorism and to protect its citizens from attacks such as those carried out on October 7th. No country should be expected to tolerate such attacks against its people.

However, this cannot justify Israel’s response in the months since, which have gone far beyond what is reasonable. The humanitarian situation in Gaza is now catastrophic, innocent civilians, including children are paying the ultimate price. It cannot go on like this.

Moreover, continued military escalation and the expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank only deepen the suffering and push the prospects for peace further out of reach. We must be clear, the protection of civilian life is not optional.

I support the Prime Minister’s decision to take action against these violations and call on all parties to work urgently toward a ceasefire and a just resolution to this conflict. The UK must continue to stand for its principles of justice, international law, and dignity for both Palestinians and Israelis.

I welcome continued communication with all constituents on the humanitarian crisis in Palestine, please do write to me as and when this situation progresses. We must continue to talk to each other and discuss how we can prevent such needless atrocities from continuing to take place.

Yours sincerely,

Marie Rimmer CBE, MP
Member of Parliament for St Helens South and Whiston”

I’m starting to behave like my mother writing to our local MP and received this standard letter back, I can’t think of any other way to keep the suffering of the Palestinians in the news. I just hope we can stop sending weapons to Israel.
The PM didn’t reply……..yet.

If you followed on from mine I deleted it because I made a mistake that could have been misconstrued. :) Agree with you we are to much in lockstep with Trump.

One point about something Owen said regarding, you don’t need to be an expert, or you didn’t need any great knowledge about the area and history to see with your own eyes what was happening and what would happen.
I think there were a few of us in here as far back as October-November 2023 open to discussing the fact we thought Netanyahu would not let this opportunity pass him by.
There would be no let up, no ceasefire, no deal.
Hostages were not top of his priority list.

I’m absolutely no expert on the region. I know I drew the ire of certain posters in here at the time, with some comparisons I made with the history of the place and places nearer to home.

But it’s true. I always thought Netanyahu’s self preservation above all would colour his actions.

I stay out of here for long spells as I just can’t understand anyone defending what’s unfolding. It’s not taking sides. It’s calling a spade a spade.
If this isn’t genocide then they’ll have to redefine the word.

anybody capable of rational thought will know full well that Netanyahu will be looking for reasons to sink the Madleen and get away with it

Looks like there's a genuine chance that might happen:

Still, good to know that if they murder the innocent civilians on that boat that absolutely nothing at all will happen...
