He hasn’t got all the cards in fact less than most. He is risking possible relegation due to debt and if he denies Cherki he could find that he stays and moves into the last year of his contract meaning we get him on a Bosman in 12 months.

I’m not saying that would happen but I’m sure he is aware of the possibility as will City be.

He’s probably worth around £60 million so if City can get him for £40 million it’s still good business. If City walk away at over 40 then it’s because we genuinely believe that’s all he is worth.

I agree with your post but this bit isn't true. If Cherki is not sold this summer, his contract is automatically extended for one more year. The details aren't public, but it probably would get Cherki a massive bonus (that Textor doesn't want to pay for sure). Nonetheless, Cherki wouldn't be a free agent next year.

He can’t Lyon are screwed. They need funds by the end of June. Otherwise they face massive penalties. Relegation was threatened during the season due to their financial situation

I didn’t know that. I just looked at his contract end date in transfermarkt.

That’s a strange one.
 
This has got the signs of it falling through.

Lyon hardballing cos they neeed every million possible in need of their dire financial position.

His agent knows at the relatively "cut price" fee there will be other interested clubs.

He looks a class player and will improve us no doubt.

But my view is that I'd never heard of him before we was linked. Unlike reijnders, where his name was getting mentioned every week.

Not exactly true is it. We have until 7.00 pm tomorrow to get everything done. Medical etc can happen easily tomorrow. So just need to get fee sorted today

Don't worry, it is not your fault at all, I noticed that this fact is constantly overlooked, probably because of TransferMarkt. But it was clearly stated when Cherki signed a new contract last summer.

Even if he doesn't sign before Tuesday he can still play in the latter rounds of we get there. Nobody said it definitely has to be done or it's off

Never know he might want a couple of extra weeks off!
