The Album Review Club - Week #195 (page 1310) - A New World Record - ELO

A great nomination from @Saddleworth2 that generated 20+ pages of discussion.

Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill averaged 6.68 across its 17 votes. I was hoping for last-minute scores of 3 and 5 because we had every other number between 1 and 10 for the scores here :)

This week it's the turn of @Coatigan to nominate .....
Not quite as popular as Rod then ;-)

All good guesses, but the first one was the closest to being on the right track.

I think if the uninitiated listened to Murmur and then AFP, many wouldn't know it was the same band.

Just gave the first 5 songs a quick listen bloody hell:-) it's straight up what I would call old skool British 80s indie rock which i like, Nirvana like before Nirvana was even around. If I didn't know it was Stipe it would have taken me a while.
Can't remember how popular they were in the UK early to mid 80s but my first memory of them was the big hits that probably started late 80s early 90s.

Tough one this…
I didn't think it was. So now I'm doing a Pep and refusing to change anything! ;).

B&w has already got one of the two processes mentioned (albeit not the exact thing). And surely someone will click to what links the three and loosely our club.

I have mentioned the band before, and at least one of the three books.

Well I’m just popping out for a bike ride - I’m sure greater minds than mine will have solved the conundrum :)

I love Chronic Town, their very first EP. All five songs are really, really good. They were a "college band" over here until basically "Life's Rich Pageant" (LP 4), and then really picked up more popular steam with "Document".
