Good signing. One of the few "CFG" type signings that I can see becoming a player for us.

Girona is a fine place for him to grow and get playing time in a top league. Michel is a good coach. Their transfer outgoings after securing CL football the year prior detailed their last season. I think they should have a better league campaign this upcoming year.

Said he’s not sure what all the fuss is about last night
Well, the fuss is about him doing well at 15/16 to be fair so would be a bit arrogant of me to say that. He is an impressive young player still, but I think his early breakthrough carries a lot of weight in terms of his hype. I see a young midfielder that excels at a lot of stuff on currently a fairly low level but underwhelms a bit compared to the likes of Ødegaard which is the natural comparison considering the type of clubs he has been linked with.

But as I also said, I am very often wrong about the trajectory of players. But I don't really see a world-class prospect when I see him. Just a decent player that has started his senior career very young. He might kick on, but really there is no guarantee. I think the best way to describe it is that the most impressive thing about him is his age. Which I have seen amazingly talented Norwegian players before like Svindal Larsen and Ciljan Skjelbred also impress massively as youngsters and then never really turning into amything other than fine. And on the world-scale I think the likes of Ruben Neves and Youri Tielamans is examples of teenagers you would have expected to go on and dominate based on how good they were at that age. And Nypan certainly isn't more impressive than them imo. I'd actually be surprised if he can walk straight into the Girona team any time soon.

But there is obviously potential there, and I am sure we have a plan for him. One thing I do know is that his mentality and intelligence is incredibly high for a young kid

Establishing quite the collection of Norweigans. Going to be reminiscent of signing all kinkys Georgian mates at this rate.

I love these kind of signings and don't think we do enough of them. There's little downside if we have the funds available. at worst, they don't work out. We sell him for a good portion of the transfer fee and its costs us maybe £1m a season.

In a most likely scenario, he's not progressed as his potential suggested but he's still a good player just not quite for us and so we sell for a tidy profit.

and then the dream aim is they do fulfill their potential and we get a 1st team player for peanuts. Sign enough of them and do the scouting and we increase our chances 1 of them pays off. You only need 1 of them to pay off in several dozen for it to be a no brainer plan. Hope we go sign more of these.

I know restrictions on loans is designed to limit this approach and stop talent stacking but I'd hope that's where a sister club like Bahia can come in for us, they can sign the south American prospects and then we essentially get full control over their futures.

Too young for it to really matter to them but if it's even slightly pissed off just a handful of arsenal or villa fans, it's been worth the investment already

Reijnders is 27. As Reijnders ages, Nypan can start to come in and take the reins of the sled.

I feel like we’re already one of the best at doing this. Jesus, Alvarez, echeverri, bah, the midfielder at como. English players too like Trafford and Doyle.

Every other top club is trying to get these players too but our profits from the academy/loan players suggests we do it pretty well already.

Not against doing it even better though

This off Villa Talk:

They are the dirt worst.

The only fair punishment for City is like -30 points a season for 10 years in a row.

Cheated to build. Now holding everyone else down. Signing our captain every 3 years.

Feel the hatred! Drink it in!
And the prick doesn't even realise that if that was to happen, any hope for Villa breaking the glass ceiling is gone

I agree it's an approach we've had good success with, I just think there's always room to do more of it, especially when it's proven fruitful. we spent £20m last summer after bringing in well over 9 figures in sales, some of that should have been reinvested into the next Alvarez etc

Echeverri might be the next Alvarez.
