London bound Air India 787 Dreamliner crashes at Ahmedabad

Pilot on Sky news now saying it’s easy to do, to have those things incorrectly set. Of course it could also be mechanical.

Easy to have incorrect take off settings but the plane would worn the pilots of an incorrect take off configuration with audible warnings

Most of the vids will be recordings(to be the first etc). Seen one last night which was supposed to be as close to the original as could be. You can hear a prop noise as it flew past as though that turbine prop thing some planes have was deployed to keep power to the engines. See if I can find it

Amazingly that story popped up on my Facebook feed last night. I’d never heard about it before.
She was pregnant at the time. For many years the story was she was pregnant with David Lukic the Leeds United goal keeper but he was born too late for it to be him. Amazingly she returned to work, but several years later she was sacked for taking part in a political protest.

Maybe not, his seat is ahead of the fuel tanks, which would have quickly exploded, but behind him, and the video showed no sign of him being burned, yet it's reported that buildings well in front of the crash site were burned out, he's just remarkably lucky, unlike his brother who was sat next to him.
Maybe he had his boarding pass but never boarded

A CX flight had trouble with both engines after a fuel contamination problem although that was a couple of hrs into the flight.
I've been on a few test flights on Airbus and that does sound like a R.A.T but hard to tell definitively as its a lot louder sat next to it .

I’m a daytime flyer. Just seems really unnatural at night, particularly over vast areas of Ocean. That Air France crash into the sea unnerved me.
Totally agree. I do fly at night but I find it far more unnerving than take-off and landing when it's light.

We were in Florida when that Air France crash happened and I was thinking about the return flight for a lot of the holiday.

landing gear may have stayed down because pilots were busy with other stuff, looked like it got to around 600ft without a problem then its as if a loss of engine power kicked in
Landing gear are sometimes deliberately left down for a short period to cool the wheels

Quite a few suggesting flaps retracted instead of landing gear which would reduce lift at a crucial time whilst retaining landing gear drag, and all when the aircraft was hot and heavy. The high ambient temperature of around 40C would mean the engine thrust would be slightly down making a mistake like that more critical.

Does this sound like a RAT??

No idea, I’ve never heard one. And I hope I never do!

The point is nobody official has confirmed there was an activation of the RAT, nor has there been any conclusive videos or pictures that would confirm as such. The 787 engines DO sound different to other engines and that could quite easily be the sound of an engine spooling down or simply the change in tone from front to rear of an engine. That doesn’t mean I’d rule it out because total sudden loss of thrust is one of the more likely theories imo. But there’s no compelling evidence the RAT was out similar to there being no compelling evidence that the flaps were retracted. This is despite many online sleuths and talking heads declaring that they could tell the flaps were up based on grainy video footage. 787 wings are very, very sleek and even on a normal takeoff the flaps are pretty difficult to make out from a distance. As always, lots of speculation and very few facts. See below for some 787 wings on a normal takeoff…now squint at them and make them blurry and it’s obvious nobody can sat with any certainty that the flaps weren’t out yet.

I’ve posted this before, my best mate from meeting at Infant School in 1963 lost his parents on the 25th April 1980 on a Dan Air flight that crashed into the mountain in Tenerife.

I was with him when he found out, another friend’s Mum rang his house (where I was staying whilst his parents were away) to say there had been a crash in Tenerife. My friend rang the number he’d been given and an Official confirmed they were on the flight.

His life changed from that moment, he never recovered properly, suffered huge mental issues, I lived with him for two years but the damage was done. He lost his girlfriend, he drank heavily and eventually lost the house he inherited along with a substantial financial payout in compensation and from his Dad’s pension fund.

He’s still alive at 66 but his life has been ruined, he was physiologically damaged. My heart goes out to all victims of accidents/attacks wether innocent or planned, it can truly devastate families.
I worked with a woman who was on this plane,I can clearly remember her saying the day before as she left the office, this time tomorrow I will be on the plane..think she had 3 kids, left without parents..
