Florian Wirtz

Excellent signing for them. A real statement.

I just hope they hold the statement true on all meanings. A potential superstar signing for them and one of the most expensive players in history to grace our lands. A player who takes the ceiling for transfers in the uk to another level. A player they can sign because of money.
Have you copied and pasted this from the Darwin Nunez thread after he scored against us in the community shield?

Can't stop laughing at these lot.
The shite these tossers came out with when we signed Grealish and now they all got their reverse lights on and backtracking.

Piss funny.

And I think this bighead they've signed will be another Nunez.
Last paragraph- I so hope you are right!!

Fwiw I didn't fancy him for us ( posted similar a few weeks ago, along with same view about MGW- just something I can't put my finger on about both of them not sitting right). However I am annoyed they've attracted a star ' galactico' type, but more so that they've got - ( or are getting ,- not up to date with transfer news) Frimpong who was on our radar for ages. And if they get Kerkez, I consider they have strengthened well with proven players.

Fwiw I've no feeling either way on our new signings until I see them play. Let's hope they are more Haaland than Nunez!!

This should be fun,..or maybe the wrong term, from our side!?I’d speculate that not even once, will we hear any of these cunts say ever,..100 million pounds Florian Wirtz!?…Nevermind the real amount!?We all know it’s too true,..and absolutely f’kin pathetic.
You are right. It's never ever mentioned about Rice.

You said Wirtz is world class and the best player in his position. He plays pretty much the same position as Foden.
Wirtz has not done anything in his career to suggest he has been better than Foden.
At every level from under 16's to now, Foden has achieved more.
If you're going to call Wirtz the best player in the world in his position, don't be shocked when people compare him to Foden.
You're the one coming out with all the hyperbole.
Wirtz may go on to be an all time great. But he is not yet.
There is a debate to be had about whether Wirtz is actually better than Cole Palmer, nevermind Foden.
You have to be joking. Just sound butthurt imo.

2 x bundesliga player of the year
5 x potm this seasons champion league (the most)
Apart from salah only player to have double digits assist and goals for 2 seasons.
Intergral part of invincible season
I mean I could go on forever with his accomplishment, he got all of this while still being 21 years old. We wanted him, and he rejected us. Chin up and let's move on with dignity.

I'm sorry we missed out on him, as I think he's an amazing player. But I'm delighted with our transfer business so far, and wouldn't swap our squad refresh to have got him.

And he will have about a million add-ons on top of that 200k per week - having a pulse bonus, etc...

And fwiw, he's a flair player and good for the league, so I hope he does really well and they play some amazing football and then lose.

The facts don't lie.

If Wirtz has been so good in the champions league this year, how come he did not make team of the year? When I seen Leverkusen play this year, they got spanked off Liverpool and Munich.

Foden has made Champions League team of the year on 2 separate occasions.

As I said, Foden has achieved more at every level of football, from youth level till now. Wirtz has been playing at a Europa League level for most of his career, while Foden has been playing at Champions League level his entire career.

Lets see if Wirtz can make the step up. I have no idea whether he can or can't. But it is undeniable that Wirtz has been operating at a level below than what Foden has been at. Lets see if Wirtz can match Fodens achievements, in a couple of seasons. I seriously doubt Wirtz will get anywhere near Phils 27 goals and 12 assists which he got in 2023/24. Even in a nightmare season last year, Phil got 10 goals and 6 assists.

So, over the last 2 seasons, Wirtz has 27 goals and 27 assists. Phil has 37 goals and 18 assists. Thats with Phil having a nightmare year this year with rumours around mental and physical health. Plus, Phil has been playing in the Premier league and Champions League, not Europa League and Bundesliga.
So over the last 2 seasons, Phil has more goal involvements than Wirtz and has been playing at higher level. Premier League is better than Bundesliga by far.

The under rating of Phil even by our own fans is absolutely criminal.

EDIT - Just to add to this. Since that first title win in 2017-18, there is only Raheem and Erling who have scored more goals than Foden. His goals have been absolutely critical for us in the most successful period of any club in English football history.

Haaland, Sané, Gvardiol, Kompany too.
„ according to some of our fans“ more like the whole football world. I know he is shit now that he is moving to another club . The usual cope.
Kompany cost us £8m hahahahaha how are you comparing the risk of buying Kompany for £8m to buying someone for £116m?!

It's this really true???? Just 200k per week???
His bonuses will include stepping onto the pitch, taking a throw in, passing the ball forward backwards sideways and receiving a pass, kissing the badge touching the sign and smiling , for tackling on and for fouling so that equates to a total of 500K a week

Who said phil is shit? I'm saying wirtz has huge potential and we shouldn't be calling wirtz shit just because he didn't join us. You cant bring team achievements when comparing personal achievement. Phil and wirtz would have been amazing for us, but it didn't happen. Wirtz is a totally different player to Phil, he creates from deep and dictate play from all over the pitch, Phil is more sharp around the box and more clinical.

Look, we all wanted wirtz, it didn't happen and that's OK. We got cherki, reijnders and ait nouri. I'm happy with our transfers.

So true - missed putting his boots on the correct feet first time
