Season ticket holders non attenders numbers

I find it weird that people buy season tickets and don’t attend. OK, sometimes things get in the way, but, seriously, people who buy a season ticket and can’t make it for half the home games don’t deserve it, except for illness or other unforeseen circumstances. On this issue I tend to sympathise with the Club. Those who buy a seat and don’t use it deprive others who would love to see the game.

They don’t deprive anybody if they make their seat available when they can’t use it. What is this concept of deserving a season ticket? You buy one, you show your commitment to the club and the team, you get to every game you can and make sure someone else has the chance to be there if you can’t be.
 
I'm sure a couple of years ago at the start of the season the club said I could put every single game up for sale on the seat exchange. Does anybody else recollect this?

I suspect the increasing difficulty of getting a Season Ticket in the first place, plus the growing gap with match day prices is part of the problem. Many people will be attending more than ten matches on an ad hoc basis, and will have been for years. They're now competing against increasing numbers of people for those tickets, especially for the bigger games.

Obviously, when most people got their STs, these issues weren't significant, and no-one would question an attitude like yours. If you wanted an ST, you got one. You're paying money up front, and there would be a reasonable chance you couldn't resell your ticket if you couldn't go.

That's changed, and I think plenty of committed non-ST holders, see your position as privileged - and given that it's easier to return tickets, which are then sold for higher match day prices, that you're also in a better position than previously, as things have become progressively worse for non-ST holders.

Obviously most fans aren't going to take a poor view of longstanding ST holders who attend lots of matches, but when nearly 10% of season ticket holders are only going to 3 or less matches a year - that's much harder to take.

What’s it got to do with you? Providing people sell it on and don’t just leave a seat empty they’re not “depriving” anyone of anything so how is it in any way yours or any other busybody nosy twat’s business why someone can’t make “half the home games”.

Depends on if they have high loyalty points and purchase away tickets depriving fans who attend every home game of that opportunity.

But they do, just not (by the sounds of it) for you. I'm guessing a Flexi ticket wouldn't suit you more?

I don't know your personal circumstances but perhaps try again with another agent? Don't get angry or annoyed with whoever you speak to either as that has never ever helped. If there's an option, try an email instead of a phone call and consider everything you've put down before hitting send.

A flexi ticket is no use when you have to choose three weeks in advance. All our circumstances were put down point by point in an email which was a clear as clear could be. Each point was totally ignored and I got a standard response trying to sell me a flexi card again. Btw I don’t get angry with folk that haven’t got anything to do with setting this misguided strategy.
 
the club brought this problem on themselves by issuing 1000’s of cheap season cards and they were snapped up by people who wanted “the big games” and who can’t be arsed with the lesser games that’s where the stigma of the Emptihad comes from because there was loads of empty seats at games. The club then brought in the ticket exchange and we became very successful on the pitch and those empty seats got filled. Now the club can see how much money they are losing by issuing so many season cards all those years ago

If you are appealing due to protected characteristics you have a good chance, but if it is based on distance from the ground it is far less likely.

We love in Ireland and have 2 season tickets.
We can't make Midweek games, or Friday matches. And with Sky increasing the number of matches (friday and sunday nights) we've no chance of getting to 10 games.
It was difficult supporting them in the 90s for different reasons, and the reason the was bought was us.
I didn't see any of the current management team at York or Lincoln.

There is undoubtedly some of that going on, and certain of these tickets are clearly held by groups or touts, for whom the e-ticket system as opposed to a physical card, has made life easier. But whilst the club itself continues to use touting agencies like Viagogo, it is difficult for me to get too vexed about who holds the tickets. Either way, as you say, genuine fans get shafted.
 
I fucked my 2 off after 38 consecutive years and a fair few before that on and off in military service and as a kid. I no longer live in Manchester. The tickets were always used when I couldn't go but I'm done with this nonsense. I know for a fact they haven't sold them as season tickets again so they'll no doubt go to our overseas visitors with a cheap meal in town dressed up as a corporate package. All they care about is money. City will always be my team but this isn't my club. They can play to an empty stadium for all I care.
