FIFA Club World Cup 2025 | Day 1 & 2 | 14/15 June '25

Criminal refereeing - Tomás Avilés should have been sent off.

The football was of low quality - but maybe we'll get some much better games when the bigger clubs play, provided that they take the tournament seriously.

I’ve got Ch5 programmed to record
Live:FIFA CWC: Manchester City vs Wydad AC. Man City kick off their Club World Cup campaign against Morocco’s Wydad AC 4.00 -7.30 PM Wednesday 18th June.

I’ve just copied that from my recordings! Am I wrong? Am I seeing things?

Just be aware that thunderstorms near the stadium can cause long delays.

The new narrative is that this tournament shouldn't be on at the same time as the women's euros

I'm guessing Athletico are going to spend 90 minutes kicking PSG around the place.
I see that they have introduced a new ruling for that" Alvarez double kick " penalty.

Also a new rule called the " Arteta rule" something to do with team personnel kicking the ball when it is still in play

FFS.

Yeah, and we’ve got Wimbledon soon too. It’s the clash with the Tour de France that’s not on either, never mind the U21s.
And worst of all, to overlap with soccer aid is a downright scandal.

First time in a long time the home team dressing room at the swamp will have a coherent, well drilled team playing for its manager occupying it.

Added the game in the early hours to today's thread as its technically Sinday's game, doubt there's many staying up until 3am for Botafogo v Seattle though.

20-0 Bayern?

Or will that be classed as disrespectful?
Depends how 'respectful' Bayern go with their line up. Auckland are essentially an amateur team, so this could get messy.

The money they get from this must be unbelievable comparative to their situation.

2 Million to show up and get are giving half back to the league to spread between the teams.

Just read Auckland City are an amateur side and pissing myself at the thought of the C suites of Rags and Dippers frothing at the mouth because they're missing out on this payday when some rando sheep herders from New Zealand get in. Does anyone know how much they'll be getting? It can't be as much as City are picking up can it?
