Tino Livramento

I always thought he used to be but then like many others became a bit hit and miss.

One thing thats become clear is after Berrada left a lot of leaks stopped and now with Viana in there seems to be a few decent sources but Baileys certainly isn't one. Romano has been good for us recently, as has Sasha.

Viana and Romano are mates apparently so you can take Fabrizio these days as gospel on City links.

Interesting though if these Sildillia links are correct.

Posters on here suggesting the only reason we are going after Livramento is because he's HG and some people insinuating he's not good enough. Yet if Sildillia is the target its a similar player profile with arguably less big game experience.

Capped at u21 level, 21 games in the Bundesliga this season, no European competition.

Livramento is certainly a bigger profile player than this. Would you all be happy with him?

Might as well be describing Aaron Wan-Bissaka if you're looking for a home grown right back that's had a decent game against Salah and Doku at some point, whilst being familiar with the Premier League.

And no, I don't think we should sign Wan-Bissaka either, although he wouldn't cost £80m!
Ha, yeah giving Bissaka his due he’s a very good one v one defender. Just a truly awful footballer. Looked more comfortable playing a pass whilst sliding than standing up!

Livramento is much better on the ball than Walker ever was so he’s not going to weaken us when we’re in possession.

Hope Newcastle stand firm on this. 70+mil for a fullback with 3 assists in 107 games ain't it.
If you want pure defensive then play Khusanov there. Nunes for attacking output, new trim Lewis if you want inverted from that side.

Hes not better than any of them in those aspects
He’s good on the ball and can bomb on if required. I don’t tho that’s what we’ll be after anyway as our left back will be doing that. His assists numbers may be poor but he’s a fullback and a very good one. He can link up well with midfielders or wingers. Not convinced Khusanov will ever make a good fullback as it’s completely different to centre back. Yes he’s rapid but over a dost. Get someone stopping and starting him like Doku and i think he’d get absolutely skinned.

Wank Bissaka was on his arse more than Mick Channon

He’s a brilliant young right back. Not sure we should be judging full backs on assists either.

Agree with all this. He could still be a good signing for us though from a squad balance perspective depending on who leaves.

Main thing though will be what tactics Pep would use game to game, and as you said, we have better options for specific types of tactics.

We dont buy fullbacks for the sake of it though, as well as those you mentioned Akanji and Stones have also played there at times.

Well Livramento is more an overall good fullback who is good at it all. Not perfect but good overall and can get better and has a higher ceiling at the position than any of those named. I think the club wouldn’t do any wrong with him unless you want a defensive monster or an offensive monster. He is a good balance I guess + HG.
It’s the same with Wharton and MGW. The club needs to go for the best available HG players or create them themselves. Ake and stones will leave in the next 1-2 years

Yeah, but Stones was always far too big for a fullback and Akanji carrying too much muscle weigth, both of them no runners.

Cancelo was the type we need in terms of running intensity, technical ability and permanent fitness. But - as for most fullbacks - he didn't have reliable defending qualities.

Nunes has put in a shift I didn't expect at all and if he can keep that level and add some degrees of defensive awareness he would offer nearly the full package. 11 midfielders, Pep says...

Not sure Livramento would join to battle for the spot with Nunes.
If we would replace Nunes with Livramento I can't see what we would have won.

But if we release say McAtee, Lewis and Akanji/Kova to finance Livramento I wouldn't say no.

Too many negatives this move.

Newcastle don’t want to sell- not surprised.

Price is too high. We can’t justify that type of spend on a fb.

I say the same thing all the time but we must be able to go and scout 10 good right backs that don’t cost a fortune. How did Tino get moved to Newcastle in the first place and why did we not find him sooner?

Overpaying for failure to recruit properly.
