FIFA Club World Cup 2025 | Day 1 & 2 | 14/15 June '25

I get the whole "spreading the football message" thing; honestly, I do. But what will either team get from this? Is this going to make Australia's more intelligent neighbours ditch the egg chasing, and take up God's own sport?

Always going to be like this in a club World Cup with more teams..

last 16 be a lot better quality..

I’m thinking of it similar to how Italy and Argentina were invited to play in the 6 Nations and the Rugby Championship. Initially, they got twatted by everyone and it was questioned ‘what’s the point?’… but decades down the line, they’re competitive.

The money teams like Auckland can get from this will at least enhance them a bit. Not saying they’ll ever be competitive, mind. Moreso the South American clubs though. This is the sort of thing that could finally give them a leg up to be competitive in this tournament in decades to come.

I thought that was the case, but the rest of New Zealand are spreading the money between them and Auckland have barely covered their costs! But they'll take it home and still be the richest in their league.

I mean City to win 10-0 every game would be great
Serious question, not wumming; would it, actually? Arguably the two most iconic moments in our 17 year history have been nsil biting, brown trousers games. The biggest win I've actually seen in person was the 8-0 against Watford, and I mentally clocked out after the fifth. The sense of jeopardy is what keeps me on the edge of my seat.

Not always good for the ticker, though!

Not a good start for FIFA in terms of generating interest which they desperately need by all accounts, a dross 0-0 and a 10-0 non-contest

As a counterpoint you most definitely enjoyed the 4-0 against madrid or the 3-0 against Bayern.

I'd love to pump a load of the teams there show we are a danger for the new season.
