Club World Cup - Summer 2025

I’m just catching up with the early games on DAZN You Tube Channel. Amazed at the size and passion of the crowds. This not the Mickey Mouse tournament our pathetic media would have you believe - maybe one the red tops may qualify for next one and then the bastards will be all over it.
Great exposure for City - really looking forward to our games.
 
yep, bit surprised at the attendances so far, much higher than I expected, indeed English media doesnt stop writing articles how nobody cares about CWC and probably 3 more articles being -written on it as I type this.

they really hurting only 2 English sides can participate in it, and probably the two they want the least..:)
had it been rags and dipper, English media would prop this CWC up big time to get the nation behind them ffs.

we just need to win the group and then we get likely an easier opponent in last 16 and after that only decent clubs left anyway.
 
Palmerias look like they’ve brought their whole fanbase.

It is just the UK and the little England attitude that love to poo poo any new tournament.

We can’t say that it’s just our press or rival fans, half BM are very vocal about how they refuse to watch it.

Each to their own. I’m really enjoying it so far.

The attendances have been huge. Bigger than you would get in most group matches in the World Cup itself. Apparently no one is interested in it. Perhaps it's just another lie from the parochial English media.

The UK media poured scorn on the early years of the European Cup. The arrogant "British exceptionalism" meant English clubs didn't even enter it. In fact Matt Busby and his United team were pioneers who led the way despite being criticised. This sort of "Little Englander" mentality is driven by the press and it affects all walks of life. Its one of the reasons this country is in decline and being left behind by most of the world. Our media and its negativity is a poisonous influence.
 
strange take from talkshite today asking who's intrested and the CWC will flop 8 teams to 16 team to infuture 48 guess nobody rang in because changed subject to slag golf media off but of course media red darlings not invoved and they have broadcasting writes to sell

Clubs of all sizes should be allowed to compete and it’s no shame seeing the huge contrast in quality.

This comp is no different to the rest. The media would have you believe it’s tosh so let them lead the sheep.

We all know if the red shit were in it the bbc would have 24/7 positive news.

Simply turn it off or stop repeating the same boring narrative that you have been brainwashed to believe.

Spot-on. It's suprising how many City fans (who should know better) allow themselves to be manipulated by the media. The BBC and SKY are slating the CWC because they did not get the broadcast rights. The BBC sells advertising on its website outside the UK but has no footage of matches. SKY is struggling and shedding jobs. They are being left behind globally. The world has changed (whether we like it or not). It is perfectly reasonable for people to have their own views on modern football (there are lots of things wrong with it) but if you are going to criticise you should at least be aware of the wider context. Personally I see international football as a bigger threat to clubs than the Club World Cup. Not everyone agrees and that's fine.

If City weren't involved, the majority opinion on here would be negative. No need to be so defensive about it ;)

I'll still watch City and some of the bigger games but it doesn't change my opinion on the tournament. It's a bloated competition that'll lead to the top players having just one summer break every four years
