Our major weakness last season was right back. Even worse than midfield. I’ve watched some games back in the big games we conceded chance after chance from right back Tottenham killed us down there the space was ridiculous.
Both players that played there could not track runners. Crystal Palace the same took advantage. Especially on counters
Right back needs to be sorted both full backs were questionable defensively but right back from watching games back was disastrous. Both full backs were good attacking but defensively questionable
Right bsck being a major problem more than the midfield last year is just fantasy.
As for the Spurs game, the first goal came off the left from Kudusevski and Madison sneaking in behind a disjointed midfield and CBs
The 2nd goal was one of Gvardiol's weekly misplaced pass into the middle that Gundog was too slow to react to.
The 3rd was also an attack from the left that walked through our porous midfield.
Only the fourth goal could even be said to be down the right, but even here, the midfield lost the ball and it was a counter with their 2 fastest player.
Get a right back if we must, but lets not re-write history.
Our whole tram was poor for a good 2 months. Starting with the midfield. The loss of Rodri ( and Kovacic) and consistent injuries at Centerback were the biggest issues and it made us significantly weaker and vulnerable.
Once January rolled in, the additions of Marmoush, Khusanov and Gonzalez plus a healthy Kovacic, the redeploying of O'Reilly and Nunes to fullback and Gvardiol to CB, all played a role in us becoming a stable enough team to accumulate the most points from January on.
I get it, RB seems like the last obvious position that hasn't been touched by change. But its not all doom.
I was impressed with Nunes improvement over the last 2 months and Rico's performances were commendable..
