Yes he's happy to be a player who comes in and plays his part. He's always been the type to never cause a fuss, always help out when needed and make contributions. He's the guy who plays against Wolves in the CL-PL-CL cycle and he's happy with that and we should be ecstatic that a player of his quality is happy with that.

Agree. I wouldn’t bet against him taking that Saudi offer depending on what the club say to him and his position with the national team going into the WC.

I really think we are going to see a decent amount of movement this summer

Agree and from the list above I’d keep Gundogan but we do have new leaders now. Rodri, Dias, Bernardo & Haaland have good leadership qualities. Gvardiol is growing too.

Add in Eddie if he stays and Foden, they may not be in that leadership group but mean a lot like Josko.

Also newer signings like Reijnders and Marmoush have plenty of experience.

we'd still be paying part wages id say if we let grealish go, cant see who can afford him and pay 100% of costs

He looked good but let's not forget much of the game was at walking pace, different matter next season when he's getting out run by most players.

Absolutely. Came on and scored the winner against Villa last day of the season. His two goals against the Rags in the FA Cup final. Captaining us to the CL and his speeches in the changing rooms that season. In general his 'late into the box' goals at the end of numerous seasons.

Pleased for Gundo, but I really don't think a performance against Al Ain (or the CWC) is going to tell us much one way or the other. The real question is — with one more year in his boots from this season, can he do it at the full pace of the most demanding league in the world, physically, for say, three matches in a row? And that one, only Pep can judge really.

Loved both of his goals- first an outrageous I thought had no chance and second very reminiscent of the old Mr Whippy ghosting into the box. He was indeed very superior last night.

Fortunately we have plenty of quality midfielders to go into the new season not having to worry about Gundo being made to play three games in a row. Unlike last season when he had to play due to injuries and players out of form. At times last season he was running on empty because of his age and work load forced upon him.

His minutes will be managed carefully next season and I doubt he'll be expected to play many full games. Starting a game until he starts to tire or coming off the bench to help shore up defence and nick a goal from midfield is still within his remit.

But let's not forget part of the reason he signed for two years was to go straight into a coaching role at the end of next season. Some posters wanted him gone this summer(he may well go to Galatatasarey yet) but he still has the quality and more importantly the experience to play another season before becoming a coach for us.

Fair enough. Under those conditions, I'd be very happy for him to stay. It was never the intention for him to play anything like the number of minutes he had to be available for, I believe.
I do wonder, though, if we're as well stocked in midfield as you say. If Kova goes, and if McAtee goes, and if Jack goes — none of which are nailed on, of course — and with Kev gone, we're a bit thinner than I'd like us to be.

Edit: just seen highlights, and I've got to say, that second goal of his is a thing of beauty. it would have been a fine goal against any team whatsoever. Also very impressed by the understanding between Haaland and Cherki for Cherki's goal. All that said, the Al Ain keeper looked decidedly weak to me.

I don’t think the last paragraph is true mate.

Unless I’ve completely missed it, neither the player nor the Club nor the Manager nor his agent nor anyone involved in his career at any point has ever said he came to us for two years to then join the coaching staff at City.

I know he has an ambition to be a coach after he retires as a player - he’s always been very clear and open on that - but there’s nothing to suggest that’s part of his deal at City.

On the contrary, he seems to have been talking up continuing his playing career for as long as possible in recent interviews, and suggesting the coaching gig isn’t his priority right now.

Jack will leave, McAtee probably will. Kova may have done had he not been out injured for 3 months or so, because of that he'll probably stay.

I think we have plenty of quality in midfield with several players capable of playing more than one role and interchanging during games. I was all for Kev staying another season but us signing Cherki and Reindeers plus Foden looking up for it it softens the blow of losing De Bruyne I think.

I'll still watch games next season though think Kev would have found Haaland, or scored instead. I often watch games thinking Aguero would have scored after Silva threading the ball to him, or Kompany or Fernandinho would have put a tackle in to stop us conceding. And I still wish we had Yaya shoulder barging players over with the strength of a wildebeest before unleashing a thunderbastard. Alas.

It is true pal. You deffo missed it. Gundo has been helping with coaching our under 16s team since 2022. I think he has all his full coaching badges now. He and Pep spoke about him returning to play 2 seasons to then become a coach for us.
