Tino Livramento

Yep and maybe it was Livamento was the one
Perhaps, but I doubt it. Our recent penchant for youthful signings strikes me as something new.

Livramento might cost £70-80 million, more than Kerkez and Ait-Nouri combined, so cost and the impracticality of such a deal suggest, to me, that we’ll make do and mend. Livramento’s arrival would also cast a shadow over the futures of Lewis and Nunes, and with shifting others already a challenge, I imagine Viana will see right-back as work for next summer’s window.

Because it's been a cake walk for us to do so.

Yes apart from one season last season where we did ok and finished 3rd but we know Man City standards that is failure and I like that attitude thinking by our club..

oh and it’s why we will be willing to pay big money for Livamento

70/80m more than Kerkez fee haha so 120m if that’s the case no chance we playing that but 70+ addons to 80m I can see..

Van Persie was class and I would have liked to have had him, but let’s not rewrite history here.

United had thrown away the league, they lost in a way that must have hurt and I think they carried that over.

Ferguson lied to him about staying and made a public apology.

Yes, it worked for Ferguson who may or may not have won the season if we signed him, but financially he was very expensive, given age etc and joined as part of the start of their decline.

That said one of the best strikers in the Prem at his peak, but Van Persie but rarely gets remembered that fondly.

Not sure your point, Mancini said a lot it doesn’t mean it’s right.

Besides my point is the Van Persie may well have helped them to win the league, but it was a short term signing.

Think everything that has gone since that season, highlights our focus over long term as opposed to short term and I think it’s paid off nicely!

Wouldn’t care if Liverpool win the next title if we continue to be the most successful team over the next 10 years.

If Mancini said it; it was right. The 5th Gospel.

This is very off topic but just on this point as I see this said a lot. I strongly disagree with the notion United threw that league title away. We had absolutely battered them away from home and we were the best team and playing the best football in the league that season by far. They were distinctly average.

We threw it away ourselves from being 5/6 points clear we had some absolutely awful results and we let them back in & get into a commanding 8 point lead in a race they should never have been in.

We then clawed it back because they fucked up the more than fortunate position they found themselves in and we got our arse in gear again.

I’m not one of them and you can check my posts, in fact you and me have had discussions about that before. This reminds me of the Van Persie transfer. We had won the league on goal difference and the Dutchman choose them over us and that was the difference between United taking back the title and us retaining it, and if you disagree talk to Mancini because he said it.
They signed him and ended up on the same points as the season before. They scored less goals and had a worse goal difference.

We had 11 points fewer, scored 27 less and had a much worse goal difference so, Persie being the difference sounds a bit unlikely.

We dropped off terribly because Mancini lost his shit and fell out with too many people.
Dropping 5 points against Everton, losing at home to Norwich, away to Southampton, and some poor away draws cost us, nothing to do with signing or not signing Persie.

Watching him tonight I think he is ideal for us. Always been impressed previously but I think watching more closely has shown me he has the footballing brain to fit into our team
If anyone has half a clue they would only need to watch the lad for 10mins to know Pep could turn him into a top player
