Club World Cup - Summer 2025

Nice we have earned most money 13.5m after 3 games
Isn’t there a participation fee to add to that, for the top European teams depending on ‘sporting and commercial criteria’, with the lowest ranked getting £9.4m and the highest £28.2m. Then it’s …

A meet up with our ex-player Cancelo then.
Anyone know if he’s been playing left or right back? If it’s right back it could be a good laugh watching him trying to stop Doku. Almost a cert for him to get booked too!

A big warning to those coming out for Last 16. The game is on the 30th even though it’s down as 1st July on BBC and other outlets. A few of the fans over here have had problems getting date/times mixed up e.g in Atlanta.
Its a great point, when I came out to Philly I nearly booked my flights / hotel on the wrong day and I consider myself a regular traveller.

Feel sorry for the blues who are lapping up the red propaganda about the CWC being a shit tournament or something.

The CWC is going to draw a big interest in the final stages with the final being watched by hundreds of millions all over the world, perhaps more than the CL final...
Daily hate is trying it's best to bump our win down as far as possible. Gone big with Ronaldo's contract instead.

How does that breakdown ??

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup has a total prize pool of $1 billion (£775 million), distributed among 32 participating clubs based on two pillars: a participation pool and a performance-based pool. Below is a breakdown of how the prize money works per game and per stage, based on available information:

### Prize Money Structure
1. **Participation Pool ($525 million / £407 million)**:
- Every club receives a guaranteed participation fee, which varies by confederation and club ranking based on "sporting and commercial criteria."
- Fees range from:
- $3.58 million for Oceania’s representative (e.g., Auckland City).
- $9.55 million for African, Asian, and North/Central American clubs (e.g., Inter Miami, Seattle Sounders).
- $12.81 million to $38.19 million for European clubs, with top-ranked teams like Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich receiving around $38 million.
- South American clubs receive $15.21 million.[](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jun/10/the-fifa-club-world-cup-explained-everything-you-wanted-to-know-about-the-tournament)

2. **Performance-Based Pool ($475 million / £368 million)**:
- Prize money is awarded based on a team’s performance in the tournament, with specific amounts allocated for wins and draws in the group stage and progression through knockout rounds.
- **Group Stage (3 matches per team)**:
- **Win**: $2 million (£1.5 million) per game.
- **Draw**: $1 million (£740,000–£800,000) per game.
- No additional prize for a loss.
- **Knockout Stages** (additive to previous rounds):
- **Round of 16**: $7.5 million (£6.84 million) per club.
- **Quarterfinal**: $13.125 million (£11.92 million) per club.
- **Semifinal**: $21 million (£19.12 million) per club.
- **Finalist (Runner-up)**: $30 million (£27.38 million).
- **Winner**: $40 million (£35.4 million).[](https://www.nbcsports.com/soccer/news/2025-fifa-club-world-cup-prize-money-list-details-how-much-will-each-club-make)[](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/club-world-cup-prize-money-35360853)

### Maximum Earnings
- A top-ranked European club (e.g., Manchester City, Chelsea, or Real Madrid) that wins all three group stage matches and the tournament could earn up to $125 million (£97–£100 million). This includes:
- ~$38 million participation fee.
- $6 million for three group stage wins ($2 million per win).
- $81.625 million for progressing through the knockout stages ($7.5m + $13.125m + $21m + $40m).[](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6231956/2025/03/26/club-world-cup-prize-money-fifa/)[](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/ckgdky6xd4wo)
- For example, Real Madrid could earn up to $145 million if they win all matches, as reported on X, though this figure may include additional commercial bonuses not universally confirmed.
- Non-European clubs, like Inter Miami or Seattle Sounders, could earn up to $97.175 million if they win the tournament, starting with a $9.55 million participation fee.[](https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/fifa-club-world-cup-prize-pool-how-much-inter-miami-seattle-sounders-could-win)
- The minimum a team earns is their participation fee (e.g., $3.58 million for Auckland City), even if they lose all group stage matches.[](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/soccer/news/club-world-cup-2025-prize-money-how-much-teams-win-fifa/f5cb6ecb2155e2a3d538e3aa)

### Per-Game Earnings Context
- For a top European club winning all seven matches (three group stage, four knockout), the average prize money per game is approximately $13.88 million (£10.7 million) for the maximum $97 million payout.[](https://www.football365.com/news/club-world-cup-prize-money-explained-chelsea-manchester-city)
- Group stage earnings are straightforward: $2 million per win or $1 million per draw, making each game financially significant, especially for smaller clubs.
- Knockout stage bonuses are awarded per round, not per game, but since each round involves one game (except the final), the per-game reward effectively increases as teams advance.

### Additional Notes
- The tournament, held from June 14 to July 13, 2025, in the United States, features 32 teams in eight groups of four, with the top two teams per group advancing to the knockout stages.[](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/club-world-cup-2025-prize-money/bltba4bcd395f2d7658)
- FIFA also allocates $250 million for a solidarity investment program to support non-participating clubs globally, aiming to grow football beyond elite regions.[](https://www.si.com/soccer/fifa-club-world-cup-2025-prize-money-breakdown)[](https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/06/2025-fifa-club-world-cup-prize-money-how-much-will-each-club-make/)
- The prize money is significantly higher than previous Club World Cup editions (e.g., $16 million in 2023) but lower than the UEFA Champions League’s $2.71 billion for 2024/25, though the Club World Cup requires fewer games (7 vs. 15 for Champions League winners).[](https://www.si.com/soccer/fifa-club-world-cup-2025-prize-money-breakdown)[](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6231956/2025/03/26/club-world-cup-prize-money-fifa/)
- Some sources, like posts on X, suggest slightly different figures (e.g., €145 million for Real Madrid), which may reflect currency conversions or unconfirmed bonuses. These should be treated cautiously as they lack universal verification.

### Summary
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup offers substantial per-game rewards, particularly in the group stage ($2 million per win, $1 million per draw), with escalating bonuses for knockout stage progression. Participation fees vary widely by region and club ranking, ensuring even smaller clubs benefit significantly, while top European clubs can earn up to $125 million for winning the tournament.[](https://www.nbcsports.com/soccer/news/2025-fifa-club-world-cup-prize-money-list-details-how-much-will-each-club-make)[](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6231956/2025/03/26/club-world-cup-prize-money-fifa/)

Yeah

Wow... our side of the draw is insane!
We've got a great chance of winning this!!
Hopefully someone knocks out Chelsea though. I hate playing the English teams in these competitions...
We owe them one for the CL Final defeat, which still annoys me.

Bring Gvardiol back in for Akanji and they won't be able to live with us.

The $4.58 earned by Auckland City should see them as the top side in New Zealand for several years.
The problem with tournaments like this (and others) is that simply qualifying gives access to money that skews the domestic games. Other examples are Debrecen and Valetta dominating locally even though they get knocked out of UEFA tournaments in the qualifying rounds.

We could field two very good teams:

Ederson
Nunes
Dias
Guardiol
Ait-Nouri
Rodri
Reijnders
Bernie
Doku
Cherki
Haaland

or

Ortega
Lewis
Akanji
Ake
O'Reilly
Gonzales
Gundog
Foden
Savinho
Bobb
Marmoush

and still have
Reis/Khusanov/John Boy on the bench.
Pity we lost Echeverri to injury. He would have made that even stronger.
