This might be a short thread as he's liley to leave, but wanted to give a shout-out for his man of the match in the final of the U21s yesterday. Got an assist and lots of good bits of play.

Not sure how his tournament has been overall, as I've not seen enough matches. From what I've seen it will have done him good, playing a lot and being captain, winning the trophy, which is brilliant.

Sometimes feels to me that he is not the kind of player - yet - to really put his stamp on matches consistently, but the tournament should have made it much more likely that he'll attract some good offers.

He’s definitely put his stamp on this tournament. Captain and one of the best players. We should be proud that one of our own has has played such a big part in a huge achievement.

Personally I think he is class and does have the talent to be good enough at city. He’s needs to play consistently though and not once every other month.

It feels like our fanbase wants instant world class youth players (never/rarely going to happen immediately) and lacks any kind of patience in developing players

I’ve watched a few of their games, thought he was very good in the final. In the other games he wasn’t so noticeable but he was a bit like the oil in a machine making the team operate more smoothly. Sadly, probably a bit down the pecking order at City but has great potential if he can develop further.

If you want to be competing for all the major trophies giving youth games and waiting for them to develop is very hard.

Think that across the season he ended up playing more minutes for the international team than he was given domestically, so one can only imagine he’d be even better with more game time under his belt. Be surprised if Chelsea don’t renew their interest in him.

He had a great QF and SF

Good player.
Will have a good footballing career.
Highly likely it’ll be away from us.
Unfortunate timing for the lad that we were well below par last season.
Big investment in new players likely to lead to his transfer.
Dortmund may be a great place for him to go and shine and for us to get a good fee and a big sell on %.
Would like him to stay for obvious reasons but sentiment doesn’t win you trophies.

This might give him to confidence to be the main man somewhere, I feel like at City, despite flashes of real top ability, he played within himself unable to grab the bull by the horns.

No doubt he’s talented but I don’t think the City environment is right for him, you need a Cherki or Foden, fearless to make mistakes, or at least the Foden the year before.

Seems inevitable he will lead but for me he should be kept within the squad.

If we go with a midfield 3 next year of Rodri, Reijnders and Bernardo he would be ideally suited to fill Bernardo’s role.

Personally would rather see Gundogan move on as otherwise if McAtee leaves this summer and Gundog next we will be again looking for a replacement.

I think the comments are right he has played within himself last year but if we cannot unlock that we’ve got a great player on our hands.

Additionally, looking at the bigger picture, it’s not a great look for the academy and future academy players if the captain of the U21s lifts the u21 championship and gets sold the same summer.

When you look at our midfield he's unlikely to get a look in & Reijnders is Gundogans' long time replacement.

Rodri / Nico G / Kovacic
Reijnders / Gundogan
Bernardo / Foden / Cherki

Echeverri & O'Reilly are possibly ahead. It would have been nice to see him make it at City, but he has to do what's best for his career.

If we could get Livramento for £80 to £90 million & then sell them McAtee £40m it would be a good deal all round
