TLC - a proper fucking punk song
I thought this was a music thread;)Well yeah, most royals throughout history got their title by stealing it from someone else.
If that happens, I’m going to put the football on.Fucking hell
Rod's announced Hucknell will be joining him
Simply Dread
Now that's a fucking war crime.Fucking hell

Surely this is one thing that can unite the whole of bluemoon. Now that's a fucking war crime.
Haha, I love Elvis. I just like winding people up who think that there's been no decent music since the 70s.I thought this was a music thread;)
Everyone's desperate to slag off the BBC. I was literally watching a video they put of one of their tracks on the BBC Music Youtube channel, and it was full of comments accusing the BBC of 'censoring' them by not putting the whole performance on Youtube. Even though they didn't put the full performance of anyone on Youtube. And then of course also moaning that they didn't broadcast their performance live. But let's not pretend Kneecap are one of the big acts. How many acts not on the two big stages were broadcast live? It's been a while since I've been in the UK during Glastonbury, but the live broadcast always used to be the pyramid stage or the other stage, with the odd cutaway to a single track from elsewhere in between. For all that's been said about Kneecap on both sides - the BBC were broadcasting bits of their set on TV this afternoon and the whole set is available on iPlayer anyway. And what they say during their performance is pretty tame! I'm not sure if either censorship or radical politics is occuring, just pop? i think the Beeb are broadly fine with Free Palestine stuff but maybe not cool with the Fuck Israel stuff. And yeah I know you could argue that you don't get one without the other (isn't that part of the problem?) but the Beeb are probably mostly just trying to avoid complaints and litigation.
They understand it's a liberal arts festival don't they, but they want to keep hosting Glasto. And if they can make sure their broadcasts pass without any major incident then their chances of keeping the rights for 2027 and beyond stays safe. I'm on Kneecap's side mostly, but I just don't know if it's ended up being that big of a deal either way. Feels like all politics is these days is stuff that's REALLY IMPORTANT for 72 hours until the next thing comes along that's also REALLY IMPORTANT for 72 hours. Then you look back and it turns out all the fuss wasn't for much.
BBC will know skipping over Kneecap's set will bring more eyes onto it than it would have had otherwise, they just don't want to be broadcasting live if someone shouts FUCK ISRAEL. Because then in the eyes of Ofcom and suchlike, they become culpable for something or other. People saying the Bob Vylan chants were "calling for another Holocaust" are being childish and disingenuous, though. Remember, when right wing comedians call for the extermination of Black Lives Matter, it's just a joke and snowflakes need to remember free speech exists. But when left-wing musicians call for an end to military occupation, the "it's just a joke" and "free speech" defences don't apply?
Whole load of fuss over not much. Again.
They've had a running live feed of basically every stage for the first time this year, which has been great. I personally think Kneecap should have gone out live - a festival is a festival and you choose to take it all, warts and everything - but I understand why the BBC didn't see it like that. It's a minefield and they chose to walk around it instead of through it. Anyone desperate to see the set can now watch it on iPlayer anyway. All the BBC have done is try to find a middle ground, which is fair enough.Everyone's desperate to slag off the BBC. Huge audience for him too, they all seem to be enjoying his performance as well. Not really my cup of tea but I’m enjoying it.I'm enjoying Rod and watching people having a good time. Probably because I'm not a miserable ****.
Libertines are amazing live, I have seen them 4 times and enjoyed every gig.Best British band formed after 2000 other than the Arctic Monkeys for me. Can't Stand me Now is an utterly brilliant song and that's far from the only banger. New stuff is great aswell.
Now she and her compatriots really are legends proper headline materialGreat tribute to Christine McVie and didn’t murder a great track, ‘I’d rather go blind’.
More on this, Black Country New Road have just come out and the lead singer is wearing a Palestine flag on her t-shirt. No censorship from the Beeb. Again, think they're fine with messages of liberation and freedom for Palestine but not anything that attacks Israel as a state/entity. There's nowhere you can draw the line that isn't slightly odd and full of contradictions, it's just what they've had to do.For all that's been said about Kneecap on both sides - the BBC were broadcasting bits of their set on TV this afternoon and the whole set is available on iPlayer anyway. Rod is 80 years old. I’ll be thankful if I can sit up and mime along to songs at that age.
