Match Thread | Manchester City v. Al Hilal (CWC) 01/07/25

Good first half. We had plenty of chances and couldn't quite find the killer second goal. I have to say they look quite threatening on the counter.

I wouldn't mind seeing Phil, Rodders Marmoush and Cherki at some stage.

Too slow and predictable, but we are getting a few balls into the middle.

Needs another goal to calm the nerves. They’re not doing much, but when they do break, they look like they can score.

At one point, we were 1 on 2 at the back on a break and their forward made a bad cross field pass, so another goal allows for a mistake or being caught on the break.

As I’ve said, should be at least 4 or 5 up by now! Hope it doesn’t come back to bite us, as this competition has thrown up a few strange results already.

Get another goal, get some fresh legs on, close it down.

“Should be 4/5 up but too slow and predictable”? Eh don’t compute!!!

Touch down -:)

Good half just missing the second goal. Had plenty of good chances to get it too. Couple of poor finishes and the Keeper has been on fire to be fair to him.

Looks like we got major fortune with the goal, seemed like a handball to me. Doku has been electric but we need another source they're crowding him out. Nunes is being asked to play inverted which means savinho has to go outside more often hes done it twice and both times led to something dangerous, got to do it more. We look a bit vulnerable at the back, especially down our left.

Loved seeing haaland sprinting back into right back and then centre back just before halftime to half thwart a break. Thats the commitment to do the donkey work that we need throughout the side and hes set the example there.

Cherki and bobb for gundo and Savinho after an hour if we haven't added to our lead by then, then think about replacing those on yellows, we dont need any reds.
