7 | Omar Marmoush - 2025/26

Was just looking at Omar's positioning vs Juventus.

Even when Haaland's not on the pitch.. he doesn't take up the positions of a #9. He's much more of a natural #10 and takes positions that KDB used to in seasons past!

Always willing to help link up play, set people up rather than pass me the ball so I can score..
Seen that as well but I didn't like it.

Now we have told our wingers to deliver to the 6 yrd line, we need someone to say thanks and convert.

Omar is naturally playing deeper and likes to go hunting on the break
or have the distance worldie, which he already did.

Now he needs to arrive in time on the 6 yrd line otherwise our wingers can produce what they want but nobody is there. Gundo, could you make a training session "how to arrive just in time" please!

Raz would have a field day with us nowadays going for the far post tap ins - we have to instruct our forwards and wingers to get in that position,
hope our new staff coaches address it and quick.

Maybe I agree with this ….but you missed out his aggression, desire, eye for a goal in right areas…..I think he will be a valuable squad player and maybe even first choice at times as his speed and attitude combined with his overall ability makes him a potent weapon…..yeah he’s not blessed with some of the others pure unadulterated abilities but the combination of attributes he has definitely adds up and he will see plenty of game time.
Well we can pay anyone what we are paying him, and get aggression and desire. The eye for goal, is all well and good, but I need my second striker, or #10 to be able to pass and create chances, which I am yet to see him do consistently.

The reality is he's 26 turning 27 this year. This is the player he is. If he was a few years younger and hadn't bounced around the way he has, I'd agree, but the more I watch him play, it looks more and more like this was a dude having a purple patch at Frankfurt and had 4 months of very good football, took the big jump, and the holes in his game have been made clear at this level.

He has played 2000 minutes of football since he has been here, you have a pretty good idea at this point as to what he is, which is a good player. I am not advocating we sell him, but if we are having this conversation about him a year from now, when he is 27, it may be a case of a good player coming here, but just a notch under our level. He'd do excellent and be a first team regular at a Spurs, Chelsea, Dortmund. but at the level of being a consistent starter at a top 5 team in Europe, I think he may just be a notch below that level.

FFS He got more votes for player of the season than Harry Kane in the Bundesliga. He was there half the season. Kane is the best player to have played for Spurs in the premiership era along with Modric.

Just seems a bit of a pessimistic view point on a player who’s only had half a season with us …..don’t we usually say some of the world beaters (Rodri) need a full season to settle into a Pep team ? Not that I’m suggesting I think he’s at that level but I do think he can play a lot for us and be part of a successful squad.

He’s got pace, eye for a goal, aggression and determination with a decent bit of skill and I think his interplay isn’t that bad either - so yeah I agree not a world beater or nailed on starter but he looks like he might be a useful part of our squad.

Yet to see him act like a #10 and create an assist..

Did you miss these??

Not everyone has to be absolute world class. If Marmoush isn’t that’s okay . He brings something into our game and that’s long shots as an example while also actually looking for a goal instead of passing side ways.
We have many options. Makes it easier to rotate if you don’t have too many absolute stars anyways. Look at Madrid. They have to play Bellingham as a 10 so Valverde and 1 of camavinga/ tchouameni still starts.

Expect a great season from him. In terms of numbers (goals/assists) will be second only to Haaland.

Such a strange player to form an opinion on. Played the whole of extra time where his energy should have played a big part. Besides a shit first touch from Cherki’s pass i don’t remember him touching the ball.

Because he can't play as a 9 against a deep defence, at least not from what we've seen so far, he should've come on for Doku and played in that inside left position behind Haaland, crap decision from Pep to put him at CF.

9 touches in 30
Haaland 25 in 90

So slightly above par for course as a striker in our set-up

Still seen absolutely nothing to indicate he can play as a 9. He's a quality player from left midfield but hes not the haaland alternative we all thought we were getting and that we need. Not having an option for 9 other than Haaland is going to be a problem for us again.

Yeah, and he might have done if Haaland hadn’t got injured. Doesn’t really solve our problem from from losing Alvarez as a genuine back up to Haaland does it? I’m not just saying that about him from this one game. He’s got ability but his first touch really lets him down at times especially if he wants to be more involved in the build up. He didn’t come and get himself on the ball in that whole 30 minutes (apart from when he lost it and they almost scored again)which is poor.

He’s a decent player but again we’ve payed fairly big money for someone who’s not brilliant.

Haaland got injured ? I missed that.

I said this before, and tonight just reinforces the point.

This is a player who has had 4 months of elite football in his entire career, and he is 26... He's not going to have some giant leap and develop into a 20+ goal a year guy with us; this is the player he is.

We paid $ 70 million and 300,000 a week for a guy that both Liverpool and Arsenal, both of whom need a striker and have the money, passed on.

If he's not good enough now, he's most likely never going to be. The goal for the club should be to find another Alvarez, a guy who is 21-23, who we can get for 20-25 pay, 90-120K a week, develop and sell for a profit, while coming in as a backup.

It's him or Doku for me.

Pep has to stop this Marmoush f9.

Haaland has the strength to keep the defender off and keep the ball before laying it off.

Marmoush has never learned to play this way.

He could be pairing so well with Ait Nouri wide left, but we have literally never seen Pep allow this to happen the whole tournament.
