It doesn’t seem that way at the minute.Pep is too much of a professional to play old boys union politics with his team. He needs to get back to that shark team mentality

He has two years leftThink the real changing of the guard happens when pep calls it a day. He will not drop his favourites ever. Think this coming season is the swansong peps last. Then this time next year all the uncs go. Ed Bernardo Stones Ake Akanji Gundo. And the new players step up with a new coach at the helm.
Was clear as day last season that Bernie cant play week in week out.Had the feeling that Pep picking Bernie as captain is this year's bringing Gundog home.
Probably a tad early. But I was not convinced like some that last year was just injuries and not a fall off in Pep's abilities. He’ll be gone before end of next season if he carries on like this
Except when we didn't have almost an entire XI out (November/ December) we accrued a title challenging number of points, so that view obviously doesn't work.Probably a tad early. But I was not convinced like some that last year was just injuries and not a fall off in Pep's abilities.
But if he can't get tough with Bernardo, Gundog, Akanji etc then let's hope Hugo can get tough with him.
I don't think he rates them nearly anywhere nearly as high as some on here do. Khusanov has pace and aggression, but he still looks well short of the technical ability one would expect at the top level, which is unsurprising given how little top-flight football he has actually played. Gonzalez looks to be another decent player but the wrong piece of the jigsaw puzzle. His good goal came against Bournemouth, but he only played the last 21 minutes in that game and that was as much down to Kovacic's red card.Khusanov and Gonzalez really seem to have found themselves out of the picture and I'm not happy with this. Khusanov was looking fine after his early mistakes against Chelsea, then Nico had a great game at the end of the season scoring a beauty. Not good from Pep, why aren't they getting any gametime?

If neither player is capable of replacing or at least putting pressure on the others to improve their games, then I wouldn't be at all surprised if they both leave this window.
I have absolutely no sentiment in this regard. When there is a sizeable difference in quality between your starting eleven and some of your stiffs, then they're not going to be capable of applying enough pressure to ensure the starters perform optimally, and that means the overall quality drops.think your right but hope not .
Old players are his... newer ones are club bought and given to him to work with, don't think he has as much of a say these days, possibly due to lack of commitment ect so he doesn't feel obliged to play them.
Also all the good football we played in that tourney was down to the fullback system that Pep L has clearly brought to the table. Pepball was back when Akanji, Rodri and Ake came on and it was all side to side shite.
We could play 3 Rodris in front of that back 4 that finished the game and we'd get turned over.As long as we play a high line with Dias and no effective press I'm afraid it's going to be the same as last season even with Rodri back, either our press improves massively or we drop Dias for Khusanov who has some recovery pace, otherwise I don't see it.
