Agree on there being only one domestic cup a year as well as a reduction in international games.

But we have the World Cup and the continental championships. A Club World Cup isn't a celebration of the global appeal of football (which by the way isn't some new thing, football has had global appeal for decades, Man Utd were profiting from their international standing in the 90s). It's a cynical vanity project on the part of a massive egotist.

Look at the attendances for this compared to the World Cup and the Euros. Footballs global appeal does not need the CWC to prosper.
I don't support England, I support City and I want to see City in a CWC.

The 'vanity project on the part of a massive egotist' is populist nonsense. The question is whether the concept is good.

We saw it in 2023 and they won.

The concept is impractical given the football calendar and the logistics of travel and scheduling. As FIFPRO stated in their complaint against it.

He's absolutely wrong.

If he wants his players to have a rest he has 12 months a year to schedule it in.

What klopp wants is for his players to have a rest on someone else's time.
Most of us who work full time take the holidays we're entitled to when it suits us (subject to our employers agreeing). I don't see why football clubs can't do the same with players and give them a week or two off during the season if they want a break. No outfield player should be playing more than 40-42 games a season.

This is the problem with Pep wanting a small squad, which he flogs to death. It's not beyond the wit of clubs who have data scientists, performance analysts, nutritionists and other specialists who scan every aspect of players' welfare to schedule in some downtime once or twice a season.

I think it's the way forward. Clubs really shouldn't put themselves in a position where the whole squad is running on fumes at the end of the season.

If that means giving players a week or two off mid season to refresh mentally and physically. Then I think it could be a positive. Stagger it so the squad isn't diminished too much at one time.

Very disappointing. I reject the view from others than the tournament is of no consequence. It will become a fixture and most importantly, we as a club bought into it, and yet crashed the moment we played a good side, and all the old failings were exposed. Perhaps that was inevitable given that Kovacic was out and that Rodri is in the early stages of recovery.

I was getting very optimistic about City but now I have crashed back down to Earth.
You can be sure now that the UK media will suddenly decide the CWC is the biggest competition in the world. I stayed up to watch last night's carnage. It was a fantastic game for neutrals and City-haters. We seemed to abandon our defence totally when it was 2-2 and we were still in control. I don't know what to think about our defence. Guardivol and Dias doesn't seem to work as a central partnership for starters.

City got KO'd because we weren't able to defend. I've told you how I would deal with the logistics: don't play the League Cup, or play the kids. Don't release players for stupid internationals. You can always find excuses.

I would go off the medical science as to what players can and can not do, not what a players association says. They will always say less football. I want to see City play a global comp. As I keep saying, if there really is too much football reduce the workload on the leading players. Change the squad size rules etc

Absolutely. The guy is a massive hypocrite
I have been told by a very good source that behind the scenes at LFC Klopp was a total bastard and treated the staff (especially non football staff) very badly. I don't buy his smarmy image from TV at all. It is all PR guff. He has made constant malicious comments about City's owner (some of them borderline racist) for years. He used to be a lapdog for his malicious owners at FSG who used to call a Soriano a terrorist. He is a piece of work and always has been.

His mask slipped a fair few times when being interviewed. Also he was continuously allowed to run at 4th officials and scream in their face. Bizarre he was allowed to do that.
