Looks like he's the preferred choice in there with Reijnders and Rodri which I'm happy to see. The technical ability has gone up significantly with those 3 in there.

Really liking his comments as captain though, leading the team well.

I was a bit unsure at first when he was named as captain, but every interview since has impressed me. He's a born winner.
100% - he's also a team first guy which is exactly the right leadership we need right now. A great example for the new players to look up to, speaks very well.

Allows Nunes free reign down that side, he's the smartest player positionally to know when and where to fill in for the movement of others.

Bernardo has scored 5 goals at Old Trafford and Anfield combined: as many as Aguero (or David) and KDB together, more than Haaland and Foden...

Underrated. Proper captain material (more so than other recent legends).

I doubt that Bernado will ever let the team down in any capacity he undertakes.

The guy is a legend for me.

He aged in Manchester like the finest Portuguese ...vinegar...

And that goal to put us 1 nil u at the swamp in the title run in in April 2019 was a big one

I fancy him in the midfield with Rodri and Reijnders providing the physicality that we didn't have last season. He's 30 so should have 2 maybe 3 very good seasons in him yet. And there's more fight in the little fella than we saw in almost everyone else last season. Game on

Surely he was shite just like everybody else ? :)

Really concerned he's going to play every minute of every game, and by the end of next season if it doesn't go well is going to be pretty hated by the fanbase, a la walker. Its a real shame to see legends get ran into the ground like this. It's not even their fault, its peps fault

He's the least of our problems.

He scored and was all over the pitch yesterday.

He will see out his final year and leave on a free and i, for one, won't be showing him any hate!

We are having the same fateful dinner again. The night Walker became captain and set the club back two years, we still haven't recovered from that. Bernardo will cost us much, much more than you can imagine, although he is currently a smaller problem than Gundogan. By staying at the club he will permanently sabotage all the fluidity and creativity of the midfield that we need to have. Foden and Cherki are already suffering from his existence. The guys who are the future of the club should not suffer because of Bernardo who brings nothing. Pep Guardiola has gone crazy, he will use him as an unquestionable starter in 2025, and he looks like he is not going to work (as is Gundogan). Bernardo would be useful if he only came on in the last minutes when we need to close the game

Not a chance he’ll be hated. I don’t think walker is hated either, not really.

Do we think Pep broke usual protocol of letting players pick their caption in order to send a statement to Viana that Bernado is not for sale? It does seem like there's a civil war happening between those two.
