Will we win the league this season?

Nope.

We have major deficiencies in goal, at right back, in central midfield and with both our wide areas. The teams we fielded in 17/18, 18/19, 20/21, 21/22 & 22/23 would all wipe the floor with the current team, which has got old and not added players of the requisite quality to replace some of the top class players whove now or will shortly, depart - like Laporte, Alvarez, Mahrez, KDB, Walker etc.

Weve signed too many rough diamonds and "prospects" as opposed to finished articles and its caught us up.

21 including players like Scott Carson and a couple of youngsters who will never play = no where near enough for a nigh on 70 game campaign. I hope he sort of names a separate league cup / fa cup / and group chumps league teams - this will help I think - give each of the three teams a challenge - helps build understanding etc. the league / Fa cup teams being players who will not be first choice in a main game - sort of happens now anyway but will be better if defined - this is my league cup team for the season etc
No usually we have about 21 including Foden and Carson , plus players like Palmer, Mcatee, and last season O’Reilly. Rarely gone with more than one short of the maximum 17 NHG and 4 HG. Plus Foden.
This year I expect us to go with a slightly bigger squad of 17 NHG, 3 or 4 HG, again our maximum under UEFA rules.2 club trained and 2 U21. So 24/ 25 is a slightly bigger squad but not much and mainly because we have 2 U21 s that will be part of the main squad.

Not a chance.
Dippers will walk it with Arsenal a close 2nd esp if they land a striker. We will be fighting for a CL place and a good cup run.
Our defence is still a shambles, especially with the tactics Pep is playing, wouldn't be averse to replacing Ederson where literally every shot on target results in a goal, Akanjii and atm Dias who is a shell of the player he was. And we still have no proper right back. Nunes has improved but will be found out against the better teams.
And a severe lack of goalscorers in our team. Wingers produce next to nothing and our main striker is a shadow of the player from the 1st 2 seasons. We are just not clinical enough.
Last night summed up the last season, wasteful in front of goal and missing the chance to kill the game off and every shot on target v us hits the net.
I was more optimistic but its the same suicide tactics by Pep, still playing slow players in the middle.

Should send this post to Pep……encompassing everything that’s wrong with the team at the moment

Think we will be a distant third.

As others have said there are just too many unknowns with this squad to produce a proper title challenge. There are also too many players who are past their sell by date who will play the majority of games next season.

Yes but pep needs to pick his formation and tactics and stick to it. 4-3-3 3-4-3 3-5-2 inverted wingers with fullbacks overlapping or 2 outside wingers with fullbacks underlapping? I also hope he loses a bit of his loyalty to certain players. Over the past season I've only ever seen gundo work in the 10 role with a false 9. We can't be having 2 midfielders like bernie kocacic and gundo starting together against teams with power and pace ( roughly a lot of teams). I still think our first x11 fully fit goes very close.

Ederson

Nunes
Dias/khusanov
Gvardiol/ake
Ait nouri

Rodri
Rejinders
Cherki

Foden
Haaland
Marmoush

Think this is our best way to go with rodders dropping into make a 3 when the full backs attack rejinders and cherki dictating from deep with the front 5 making runs inbehind for them.

If Pep persists with a high line and Dias at CB then no chance. It will be over by October for us.

Ederson has to get his head in the game as well.

Think we will be in with a shout. I don't see the loss last night the same as other bad losses last season.

In the games where we were well beaten last season there was very little we could do about it. Last night was just poor quality in both boxes, whilst every inbetween was good enough (alright the attack fell off 2nd half). We could and should have been out of sight.

I saw enough in the Juve game and last night to think we'll be much better next season.

We still need a right back and a goalscoring winger and we need to sell.

Haha the state of this place. Anyone who thought we’d just kick into our old selves in the space of a few weeks is thick as fuck. The signings we’ve made are brilliant. Just what we needed. And just because a player has a few dodgy games it doesn’t mean he’s finished you know nowt mard arses. We need a right back and need to get rid of a bit of deadwood but fuck me! What a sham of a fanbase we’ve become. We’ve lost 2 games in over half a season now, playing mainly turgid football and folks weren’t happy. I hated how we played but could see why we did it. Now we’re playing high risk attacking football with some outstanding attacking talent - Cherki, Marmoush, Haaland, Doku, Ait Nouri, Foden etc etc. not to mention an untouchable centre Mid partnership in the making. Added to that an exciting new coaching set up. Jesus, give them more than 4 games which are effectively friendlies to adjust and gel.

Unbelievably good team that with plenty of options from the bench as well

It’s the tactics and the formation of the team that’s the problem rather than the personnel

If we defend like we have seen in the last 2 games not a chance.

6 shots on target. 6 goals conceded. That is not all down to bad luck.

We won't score 3 or 4 EVERY game in the Premier league, to pull us out of the shit when we go all kamikaze at the back.

Yes it's the old cliche' but Solid defences win you titles, strikers, forwards win you games.

We cannot carry on being so open on the transition next season like we were last season. Last season we started very well luckily!! Then fell apart like a cheap suit.

Only if we get rid of Pep's favourites. We could be getting Yamal at this point and he would be on the bench to accommodate Gundo, Akanji etc. We have the right players on the team (rightback aside) already, we just need to use them
