Nearly ran one over before, others just stay in the road either being suicidal or just being more cocky.
Cooo story surely?Cool story bro.
They are most likely retired racing pigeons that are enjoying a more sedentary existence now that their sporting career is over (see human equivalent Mr Rooney (W)).Nearly ran one over before, others just stay in the road either being suicidal or just being more cocky.
Was it in a can or a bottle?A woodpecker once flew at full speed into our window. It did not survive. Perhaps it didn’t notice the house.
Blackbirds constantly, deliberately fly across roads from one hedgerow to another, just as a car comes along....I mentioned this to a nature loving mate of mine and wondered why they did it,and he and his missus both answered at the same time " ..to prevent a sparrowhawk snatching them as they break cover"Blackbirds are worse. They lie ( perch ) in wait for a passing car then they see who leaves it till the last second and dive/fly across the road at bumper height with a cocky fucking grin on their beaks as they make it by a nanosecond to the other side. Dont get me started on Red Kites and a dead pheasant.
I used to do that with trains and I'm still here.Blackbirds are worse. They lie ( perch ) in wait for a passing car then they see who leaves it till the last second and dive/fly across the road at bumper height with a cocky fucking grin on their beaks as they make it by a nanosecond to the other side. I think a sparrowhawk is the least of their worries. 40 Foot Scania on the other hand.....Blackbirds constantly, deliberately fly across roads from one hedgerow to another, just as a car comes along....I mentioned this to a nature loving mate of mine and wondered why they did it,and he and his missus both answered at the same time " ..to prevent a sparrowhawk snatching them as they break cover"
That made me think....not as crazy as it seems!
I'd never have one on a menu that's for sure. Gammy legged and feasting on second hand chewing gum, never know where your Sauted Cheshire Pidgeon breast served in red wine and shallots has been.Pigeons are thick as ….
Think that they’re eating more intoxicating berries,
Seem a lot more entitled, just sat there expecting everyone to drive round them, like they’re not the problem,
More dependent on humans than their predecessors…….
They’re obviously mimicking our younger generation!!!
I do think among the avian population they are the least smart. I have crows in my garden who can use tools ( sticks/stones etc ) to access bird feeders and topple them to the ground but yeah like you I sense they are just stupid. Taking my some back to Uni digs about 10 years ago in York and he pointed one out on the street - I went dead slow and beeped the horn then squelch noises as we burst a pigeon.Nearly ran one over before, others just stay in the road either being suicidal or just being more cocky.
I think if you asked a blackbird about it's chief worry ,it would say ..the Sparrowhawk.I think a sparrowhawk is the least of their worries. 40 Foot Scania on the other hand.....
