45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

Because he's shit? He looked terrible in a few of the games he played last season. He'll get a few games in the Carabao but that might be his lot for next season, unless we have another injury crisis.
Terrible? Apart from that shocking 1st 15 mins against Chelsea where else did he look “terrible”

Remarkable how impatient some people are. He's 21 years old. He's settling in and has understandably looked shaky in this adjustment period. But no, he must start every single game otherwise it's obvious pep doesnt rate him and he'll be sold 6 months after we signed him.
No club or fanbase gives this age excuse tbh.
Just look around and see teams are giving ample minutes to even teenagers but some how Man City can’t

Probably vastly more patient than the borderline unhinged collection of posters we have on here.

He's come from the arse end of nowhere in footballing terms, hes not had the same level of footballing education the players in academies in Europe get, I highly doubt he will have that "ive made it. Im a superstar" attitude that can infect some given that 2 years ago he was in the reserves of a Belarusian second tier side with limited expectations.

I imagine he'll be buzzing his tits off just to be here for many years even if he didnt feature at all just because of his meteoric ascent. When players sign 5 year contracts, i dont think theres many that are re-evaluating their decision 10% of the way into it because they haven't established themselves as automatic starter yet. I have no worries about his happiness here.
He is going into his first full season at City and his national side have qualified for the 2026 World Cup. Game time is important.

If he didnt play a single second from now until next summer, he'd still be going to the world cup as first choice. He's their star

What excuse? Its simply the reality that hes incredibly young and inexperienced that's still developing who was bought with the next decade in mind not the next 6 months. I'm pretty sure a 20 year old nico O'Reilly has just played a significant part in the second half of our season and played in a FA cup final, 20 year old Rico lewis is approaching 100 appearances for us, 21 year old savinho has just had a 30 game debut season with us, 19 year old echeverri who has been here weeks, got an FA cup final appearance. You sure you actually want to claim we dont play young players?

He was poor at home to Brighton in the league and shocking at Bournemouth in the Cup. In fact, his replacement at HT by O'reilly kicked off our best run of the season.

He's a player we signed for the long-term who isn't good enough for us right now.

Doue and João Neves is 20. That's no excuse. Khusanov played in Ligue 1 every week and plays for his country. He's definitely ready, otherwise we will be still saying he's only a kid when he's 25 like United fans did with Lingard.

You think Khusanov is a better player than two time World XI centre back Ruben Dias?
Why must you keep hammering on about old accomplishments? No one cares anymore. It’s 2025, wake the fuck up.

The poster you’re replying to didn’t say that Khusanov is better yet you’re reaching for it. Dias and Akanji are out of form and have been overplayed in the last two seasons. Asking for something different when the same names drop stinkers consistently isn’t an outlandish opinion. Khusanov can’t get any better if he’s just sat watching our shitshow defense led by a 2x World XI center back.

The point is that they are far superior players to Khusanov so they are going to be picked, irrespective of whether they aren't in great form. Form is temporary. Wake the fuck up, numpty.

Wow . I actually think the kid is underrated now .

A high press team won't suit him at his stage of his development. A team that sits back and counters only he is hugely needed in the 11.

By that yardstick, one presumes Juma Bah is ready, too, no?

The reality is that no matter how good or ready we think Khusanov is or may be, in the eyes of Guardiola he is not.

Yeah numpty why don't we bring Merlin back since he was a far superior player to Cherki, it doesn't matter that he's retired, form is temporary.

i like Khusanov, but he is no way near the levels of Dias. And a poor Dias

Who said he must start every game ? the problem is he didn't get a fucking minute for months, he looked shaky ? yeah in the first 10 minutes against Chelsea and after that he won a player of the month award playing for a team with no midfield, no one is saying he's world class but it makes no sense that he never ever plays when Dias and Akanji have been poor for some time.

Besides the first game, he’s been superb defensively every time he played.

Should feature in every game, as a starter or a sub.

I’m not saying Khusanov is better, but Dias’s form over the last season is concerning. We can’t keep grinding out of form players into the ground when we have younger alternatives who should be getting minutes to bed in.
