Make them watch a video of Liverpool lifting the PL trophy and of Palace lifting the FA Cup.

Then the same day, send them home and off on holiday for at least two weeks, completely away from football, just time with their families.

The new players gelling together and working on that either in training or on the pitch in friendlies. I dont think we need to play the likes of Bolton etc, but I would like them to spend time together getting to know each others game.

Either way its better than sweating it out in America in a competition that nearly everybody hates.
So happy to see us out of that competition... could only see bad things happening in terms of injuries now or down the line.

Now rest and training/friendlies in hopefully cool Manchester ;-)

I'm guessing 3 weeks off, any longer and they'll lose fitness and need to build it back up. Then a week of light training before a couple of weeks of intense stuff and presumably a couple of games before wolves.

Sat in a bar in Orlando drowning our sorrows(still). Rumour mill in full effect and there is talk of a friendly in Germany when the lads get back to pre season training. It could be feasible as we obviously have no Charity Shield commitments.

No chance the players get 4 weeks off.

2 maybe 3 max.

Too late now to be having 4 weeks off..players will be miles off it at the start of the season.

Pep will want to go into the season with at least 3 weeks prep time.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but does anyone know of any planned games?

I hope this is a chance to go back to how things once were, when a mostly unknown "Manchester City XI" would turn up at Altrincham, Stalybridge, Hyde, etc. and have a kick about. The last time we did these was the summer of 2011, I think. I remember Craig Bellamy being forced to play against Alty and Stalybridge before we flogged him to Liverpool.

Just remembered I got on TV when we played against Alty. A shot of me eating crisps behind the net as the Alty player scores the penalty early on.

I’d imagine it wouldn’t be too difficult to arrange a friendly with CFG teams like Girona, Lommel SK etc without the requirement for loads of travelling.
With the ongoing building work maybe games to be played at the Joie stadium, similar to the friendly after COVID.
We don’t have the Charity Shield to consider so perhaps a stronger opposition scheduled for that weekend.
The lads have four weeks holidays so as long as they’re not going on all inclusives and smashing the ale, they’ll be reasonably fit, just not match fit to start off with.

Players should be having a few weeks off and just get back for fitness training and the tactical talks from Pep.

As long as they don't spend those 2 weeks in Greggs and Wetherspoons they shouldn't take long to get up to fitness. A few sessions of Wembley and 3 pots in and they'll be reet.
