It’s all coming together for the Isle of Man again
I don't know if this has been mentioned, but does anyone know of any planned games?
May be worth trading the risk of a 'slow start' by taking as much of that time off as possible to recharge batteries?I imagine there’s a contingency, maybe not travelling, maybe behind closed door. Can’t imagine we’d expose ourselves to our first match in 6 weeks being the prem opener.
Cheers mods delete plzAlready a thread
Just needs merging with pre season changes thread as it could be a biggie this one going forward. :)Cheers mods delete plz
Think they have said 4 weeks. Pep always prefers giving players a longer break even if it means a slower start to the season. No chance the players get 4 weeks off.
2 maybe 3 max.
Too late now to be having 4 weeks off..players will be miles off it at the start of the season.
Pep will want to go into the season with at least 3 weeks prep time.

They played all year they deserve 4 weeks unless you wanna kill them. 2 weeks should be enough especially when they start training for themselves after the 3rd weekNo chance the players get 4 weeks off.

I hope this is a chance to go back to how things once were, when a mostly unknown "Manchester City XI" would turn up at Altrincham, Stalybridge, Hyde, etc. and have a kick about. The last time we did these was the summer of 2011, I think. I remember Craig Bellamy being forced to play against Alty and Stalybridge before we flogged him to Liverpool.
Just remembered I got on TV when we played against Alty. A shot of me eating crisps behind the net as the Alty player scores the penalty early on.
I think the CWC will work in our favour. We have bedded in new players, worked on tactics, retained fitness levels, bonded the team with the new backroom staff. Foden is back, Rodri is back, Bobb is on the way back, Cherki and Reijnders look brilliant, Haaland is back scoring, Doku has improved and lifts his head before passing, and Pep is buzzing. What's not to like.dont think players report back now until something like 4th of August.they will get 4-4.5 almost 5 weeks off now which is still less than what other clubs give.
PL kicks off for us on 16th, so at best its a 12 day period for a short pre season and all the medical checks, bloody hope so no one will turn up in bad shape. we did quite a lot of tactical work I am sure during CWC, bit of team bonding as well, question is now how much players deteriorate physically now, just avoid sweets, alcohol, fast food and stuff lol
in that 10-12 days we have left of pre season, it will be mostly about bringing players up to a good shape so they can last 90 mins.
having to play Arsenal and Brighton away and Spurs and rags home in first 5 league games not very ideal. all of those will be put through a serious training regime from mind July or even early July and will be in different shape than our players after a long month off now.
I bet new Spurs manager wants to start off well and his first game is Burnley at home so thats likely a big win for them.
while Interim at rags now has a full pre season, he complained a lot about being weak fitness wise I bet he will train them hard during pre season.
our first game Wolves hopefully will be easy, they lost Cunha, Ait Nouri, not much strengthening yet, really not a game to drop points with the fixtures following up...
Apparently we lost a game so whole long list of things we shouldn't be liking. We had 3 decent games now it's all doom and gloom again.I think the CWC will work in our favour. I am as upbeat about this season as I was just before we won the treble. All the signs are there. Pep just has to be more pragmatic defensively. My main worry is lack of pace in the centre backs but Akanji and Kusanov are both rapid. Haaland, supported by Cherki, Foden, or Marmoush is as good as it gets. I still think Nico Gonzalez can play his part alongside Rodri and Reijnders to stop teams killing us on breakaways.Apparently we lost a game so whole long list of thigs we shouldn't be liking. *since Monday......
Either way its better than sweating it out in America in a competition that nearly everybody hates.
I am too, think the only thing we really need is a right back like Livramento or somebody else that understands the inverted full back position, that can step up besides Rodri and give the 2 centre backs more protection. I think the that allows Ait Nouri and the attacking players more freedom,I am as upbeat about this season as I was just before we won the treble. All the signs are there.
