26 | Savinho - 2025/26

Do you have other wingers in mind? If so, please name them. I am curious who can help us right away and is available on the market. Maybe if you look around you will realize that you probably won’t even be able to name 1 better in any league out there in the same age bracket.
Also it was his first season. Unbelievable that a 20 yr old didn’t tear up the league
I'm not a football scout - and no, I don't have any particular players in mind.

You seem unable to name players who might suit us too. Based on your inability to name suitable wingers, you somehow leap to the conclusion that no such players are available. Which I rather doubt is true at all.

Yeah because there is no better in the same age bracket at all unless you wanna switch the system to non wingers. The amount of good wingers nowadays is very low.

Average wingers like gittens go for 50M and I doubt you would see him as a solution.

There’s a whole host of wingers throughout Europe that are more suited to the premier league and who would improve us more than savinho does. There is also no rule that says you have to replace players with the same profile or age so don’t understand that point at all.

Our aim is to get back to winning league titles, therefore we need players who are capable of performing in said league - which for me savinho certainly isn’t. I don’t think that’s even controversial to say.

Savinho may become that player one day (I doubt it) but he’s far from that right now, you can’t just keep saying he’s young as some kind of excuse. If you're playing for city you can’t just show glimpses, you have to be consistent and perform for 90 minutes.

He'd be best being loaned to another premier league side if possible for a year or two to see if he can actually cut it in England.

Scored 1 goal all season in the PL. I’m sure you could get a winger from league 2 that would manage that if not more. Yeh he’s 20 but we’re not in a position to obsess over project players. Signing players like Savio and Doku are the reason we had the season we did. Terrible recruitment, 4 goals combined in the league last season is insane!

I thought Savinho was great in the first half against Al-Hilal. When he had a bunch of teammates making runs around him, he constantly managed to play dangerous throughballs to them. The constant buzzing around him also gives him ample opportunity to take on his fullback effectively. It's clear he's very well suited to us when we play faster and more direct football

In the second half, we went back to our safety-first approach, and I think he just struggles in that. There's no space for teammates to run into, so there aren't any throughballs for him to play. He's not quite explosive or skillful enough to be a consistent dribbling threat (like Doku or Bobb) when the game slows down, and he's just not quite good enough shooting or passing wise to be a direct threat (like Foden or Cherki) either

I liked him for the first few months and some of his assists were good. The one V Arsenal in particular
But the reality is that he scored 2 league goals more than Oscar Bobb last season and Bobb broke his leg in August and didn’t play until the end of April

Add in him moaning at Dias in the first few minutes V Forrest away for a slightly over hit ball and him waving his arms at fans(very Arsenal) he’s rubbed me up the wrong way

He might turn out to be good, he might not. But we’ve Doku, Bobb and now Cherki who fall into that category and that seems too many

If a decent offer came, I’d probably sell and look to get someone who’s done the business before I.e low risk.

Haaland and Marmoush did the same when the crowd was quiet . What’s the problem with that ? That’s something a bunch of players do in different leagues and clubs?

This is the biggest red flag that Pep has lost the plot . This guy plays regularly. Maybe Pep is bored and wants to compete with 10 men .

The reason is not down to them. It is down to Pep and Txiki. It is down to the experienced players letting us down.

You are ignoring the fact that Savinho had 8 assists. More than Kdb, same as Ödegård, Eze, Cole Palmer and Doku had 6.

The players that let us down were Walker, Silva, Gundo, Dias and KdB.

We need to have defenders and midfielders that can pass thriugh the gaps and lines for these two. See what happened with Doku when Ait Nouri is playing.

Imagine having someone like Laporte who could spread the ball wide instead of having Dias or Akanjii dallying in the ball. There lies the problem and why we are static. We should have given Doyle a chance as he is exactly the type of defender we need on the ball. If not that then give Reis a chance as he is also very accomplished.

Is this post genuine, so your actually blaming the wingers for all our poor performances last season, a village is missing a fucking idiot somewhere, take up another sport pal.

Not good enough for a top tier team and that is what we used to be but atm he will be ok with us as we are not like we were . Bad recruitment from the masters of getting it right .

I think this season he’ll get the role his status requires I.e a sub who will come on now and again

I don’t know how we carry him, Doku, Bobb and Cherki. That seems at least 1 too many of the might be good/might not be tier of player

If we accept that the starting front three will be Marmoush, Haaland and Foden. It does limit the other 3

You make a good point about his passing with willing runners. His weight of pass in some of those games was excellent

when everyone is good, he's not only good, but great. when everyone around him is not performing, he's not only bad, but one of the worst. this is a consistent pattern with him. understandable for a young player, i think

The fuck are you talking about, where did I say Savinho is the sole reason. It’s clear signing them players (Doku, Philips, Nunes etc) to replace the ones that left and not letting go the ones that should have gone has put in in the position we were in last season.

If me questioning 2 wingers who have scored less than fucking Joey Barton combined makes me an idiot then what the fuck are we doing.

Another player bought on the cheap to replace world class that’s no where near good enough standard to where we want to be

I replied to the sentence iv highlighted in bold print above, that to me means your blaming Doku and Savio for our mediocre performances last season, that’s what the fuck I’m talking about.

I thought he would have been bedded in over a few seasons. Maybe a prem loan to start with. I’m sure him and his folk are surprised he’s part of the main group. Clearly not good enough and needs to grow up a bit. Hopefully Phil sorts himself out and OB has more game time. No room in the main group for this lad.
