Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

Will be in the same situation next season if both Gundo and Bernardo stay. Pep will play them in midfield we will, get overrun defence will look fragile, concede on the counter and repeat. He won't change it and I don't know why. Al Hilal exposed the weakness, Palace did etc
Yes, and making Bernardo captain guarantees him a spot in the starting 11 every game unless he's sick or dead, denying the team the fresher legs of a more dynamic midfielder who could press harder and support quicker transitions in both attack and defence.

I've read some mad comments on here over the years but "serial losers" about the team that had the best form in the league to finish third and got to an FA Cup final is quite the take.

99% of team would kill for that kind of serial losing. A portion of our fan base have become so used to winning that we can't handle a season of not doing so well.
Would you prefer serial winners? Let's compromise and say the season performance was avoidably disappointing given the resources available to Pep.

Are you guys aware that some are debating
the "Pep Performance 25/26" while others are remembering Pep's title collection with City? :-/

I for my part don't get why Pep who seemingly wanted to manage player's energy levels during CWC anyway didn't drop Bernardo between our CBs in possession and drop our whole setup 30 yds to make Al Hilal work as soon as we were 1 up.

Pull them out and use the space with Doku, Sav and Erling.

Close shop, manage the game, take 10m and go to the QF to do the same with Flu, then Chelsea.
Then win or lose a tight final, I don't care.

Pep doesn't have that side of the game. I miss that.

Ah, for those unable to debate performances from different angles - Pep was fantastic over the years!!

Good point but you may have noticed the relevant thread has been closed - hence these anachronistic footnotes ;-)

The thought process of some in this thread:

1. I don't understand Pep's tactics and why he plays G and B.

2. If I don't understand, then, objectively, his actions don't make sense.

3. Pep is past it.

Well, what about:

2. If I don't understand what one of the best managers is doing it might be because football is a bit more complex than I imagine or because I'm too lazy to think what his reasons might be.

3. Pep is likely fine, the problem lies in how I think.

Well thank God you’re here to explain it all to us. Really.

None of Nunes, Lewis, Akanji, Bernardo or Gundogan would get in any top team. Viana needs to clear the decks. And i'm sorry but Savio and Doku are prospects. Both have potential but nowhere near ready to be regular starters for a club like City. Since the treble season we have regressed more than people think.

So that leaves us with

Ederson,
Stones, Dias, Gvardiol, Ait Nourri:
Rodri, Cherki,Reijnders,
Foden, Haaland, Marmoush

with Kova, Nico & Bobb on the bench without including the 'prospects' or the others - something to build on.

You are welcome mate :)

One must lack awareness to think he understands better than Pep what is hampering us, e.g. the infamous uncs...

Of course, people are free to express their opinions, that's great, but they are not free to silence those who think their opinions are a bit thick and disrespectful (to the uncs, Pep, etc.) , right?

May I ask what or who the above are and if I'm one?

Can't say I'm surprised by that question.

Anyhow, people are free to criticise Pep and the players as much as they want, other people are free to criticise the opinions of the former.

Let's see how Pep and the team perform next season.

Personally think we need a new starting RB. And we could definitely do with another wide player that can put up g&a numbers that the real top players do.

It doesn't though Pep has left other captains on the bench all the wat back to Fernandinho.

The one who knows the future :)

I doubt it.

"He won't change it and I don't know why." Translation: Pep has gone mad.

How many more million posts parroting the same unthinking mantra?

I paraphrase:

“Pep has been marvellous for us for a number of years … (true)
“ ERGO his powers can’t possibly have waned and will surely return forever…(???)
“The last 12 months should be ignored, along with his reversion to type against Al Hilal…(???)
“Anyone doubting this is a disloyal and disrespectful idiot?”(Fcuk off).

There’s nothing wrong whatsoever in staying loyal to Pep and continuing to believe in him. Where you go totally wrong is in insisting that’s the only valid view and that the past - choosing the years selectively - is a cast iron prediction of the future.

In your headlong rush for post count, you’re too blinkered to see the blatant flaws in your “argument”.

Do you honestly think that repeating this drivel on every page makes it any more than the reasoning of a fanboy? Or that an intellectual pygmy like your good self has the right to berate fellow Blues?

You’ve too fkn much to say, pal. Give your gob a rest before I take the kid gloves off.
