Over the past couple of decades I watched it occasionally.

Same here. And like the wonderful Clive Myrie I don't bother watching MOTD if we lose. I detest Shearer and his snide comments - the FA Cup final v Palace was his 'piece de resistance' in vitriol and biased bile.
