Was in holiday in Palermo in May. Stunning place as is much of Sicily.

If I may share a couple of tips that may be of use to someone.

Have a look at staying in Mondello. Its outside Palermo on beach 20 min bus drive away, which is fairly reliable and very regular. It tends to be a bit cheaper than Palermo and being on water is a bit cooler than the city.

The other tip is dont get a car if you can avoid it. You wont need it in Palermo and it will shed your nerves if you have one, in terms of driving with the nincampoops and loons and trying to find a parking place. You also stand a good chance of being ripped off by rental car places who will try and put every scratch (which you are likely to get) down to you.
Obviously if you want to drive around Sicily that may be different and a car may be necessary but just to stay in Palermo dont get one.

Palermo was stunning and I found nicer than Catania which with the exception of views of Etna was not that nice.

The food in Palermo is amazing. Treat yourself to Pasta alla Norma. Incredders. Enjoy.

Please do behave, or else a close relative will be getting a ransom note...attached to one of your ears.

I've booked Lufthansa, Thurs am from Manc and back from Palermo Sunday night, small 1 hour or so change overs in Germany there and back.£328.00.

Flights been nearly a £100 more so pays to watch it a few days, think its that dynamic pricing thingy.
Went to £296 earlier this week,.

No, looked at Edinburgh to Palermo Ryan Air which does not look bad but then I check trains and its a massive piss take.

Why Brum? Manc to Naples looked cheap enough on Ryan Air but as you say its getting back to Naples on Monday thats the issue as train quite a few hours and looks overnight.
The train goes on a ferry.

Was on it last year. It’s cool. Sicily is amazing.

Edinburgh flights creeping up
£270
I'd pay £270-£300 if those flights were direct from Manchester, but judging from the other posts there's going to be too much downtime spent hanging around at airports, train stations and ferry ports, and before you know it, you've committed to 3 or 4 nights and spent £1000

More importantly I'm also hoping to do all the CL away games and that first fixture might be just a few weeks after the actual draw with zero chance of an official trip or cheap flights, albeit somebody will inevitably pretend that they only paid £39

If I'm going to pay way over the odds I'll save it for then.
