No, CFG (City Football Group) clubs are not exempt from UEFA's multi-club ownership rules. However, they have been granted an exception for the 2024/25 season to allow both Manchester City and Girona to compete in the Champions League, and Manchester United and Nice to compete in the Europa League

Only amusing part is the Palace fans tying themselves up in knots and getting angry on Stefan Borsons' twitter feed despite him being right.
 
They had plenty of opportunites to put Textor's share in the club in the blind trust and chose not to, either deliberately or ignorantly.

Any club in the Premier League has to think they have a decent chance of getting into Europe. I know it was their first major trophy but they've earned £1bn+ in tv revenue alone since being back in Premier League. 10 PL teams were out of the cup at the blind trust deadline including, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs, they had to think they had a chance.

Not buying the Textor looking to sell angle to not put it in the blind trust either. He could have paused that or sold at a reduced cost if they were desperate or give him some financial incentive to keep Palace an extra year.

The rules overall aren't great but at the end of the day, owners with multi-club models need to be well aware of them.

You have to feel for their fans, but as others have said, if the ref and var would have done their job and sent off Henderson they probably wouldn't have won the cup and it would never have been an issue. As it was they won a trophy and are in Europe in some form so they should be happy with that.

We didn’t deserve to win the game in my opinion and to not let them compete in the Europa League is absolutely scandalous - how can they be ok to compete in the Conference League don’t the rules apply to that then ?

I didn't say we deserved to win the game, but if Henderson, who ended up being their star man had been sent off as he should have been we probably would.

It's not scandalous it's the rules. Is it tough on their players and fans? Yes, but they broke the rules, whether we like those rules or not is a different matter.

As disappointed as I was to lose the game I was happy in a way Palace fans got to experience the joy of winning a trophy. I was the same after the Wigan final.

Well, this is one of those ones where I'm going to have to disagree with you. It's rare enough to be worth noting.

For me, it's hard lines on Palace and Palace fans.

As regards the match itself: I've been very clear on here, several times, about it. Setting aside several incomprehensible decisions, not to mention incompetence by the referee, it was an exercise in sterility, and that was largely down to Palace, although we played our part. They made one slick break, and otherwise simply packed their box and the area immediately around it. We couldn't find a solution to that, and that was poor from us. I don't think I've ever been so bored at Wembley, watching City. It was a waste of several hundred pounds as far as I'm concerned, and a waste of my time. That's as may be…

BUT.

The result is clear: the history books will say — and I confirm — that Crystal Palace were winners of the 2024-25 F.A. Cup. In those circumstance, normally, the winner competes in the Europa League. I don't hate Palace fans. I've never had any problem with them whatsoever, and I didn't on that day. If anything, I've got a bit of a soft spot for them, because of 2014, and Crystanbul. No — they must be pretty devastated. I understand that.
 
I think I said it earlier in the thread, but I'm sick of football these days being decided on some bullshit technicalities in the boardroom rather than by what happens on the pitch. Like the team of lawyers and accountants are more important than the team on the pitch.

The other thing, beyond the bullshit rule in the first place, is the fact that it is set up in a way that expects owners to guess whether they'll get into Europe. It literally is only ever going to affect teams that don't expect to get into Europe. Imagine if this was in place back when Millwall got into the UEFA Cup. Are we really saying that the owner of Millwall should preempt their Championship club getting into Europe and change their entire ownership structure on the off chance that they qualify? Either ban multi-club ownership outright, or put the deadlines in the summer break rather than before key matches have been played.

Or, to look at it another way, it only impacts clubs with multi club ownership and those owners are or should be very aware of the requirements. They could and should have agreed a deal with UEFA on the basis that they might qualify for UEFA competition. They had nothing to lose if they subsequently failed to qualify
