Think official capacity is just short of 40k ( West Yorks Owl will know better) but there is room for expansion so it could be done with the right owners if they saw fit.

The ideal would be for Blades and Wednesday to sell up and build a modern shared stadium but that will never happen. They hate each other with a passion, worse than City and united imo.

Its a big city with a lot of areas surrounding it.

I think the hatred of the local rival is common throughout football.

City and the rags
Everton and Littlewoods
Stoke and Vale.
Wednesday and the Blades
The two Bristol clubs.
Even Ipswich and Norwich can’t stand each other, and they’re 45 miles apart.

And I don’t think it’s even an English phenomenon. It’s pretty much a worldwide thing.

Juventus and Torino.

Current capacity is 35k for safety reasons and I'm not sure there is space to expand looking at aerial views. No chance of them sharing with Blades though, bit like that pie in the sky shared Scouse stadium.
 
When the Etihad is complete with the hotel open, it will be really profitable with 24/7 activity. Good ol’ liddle Citeh.

Regardless of how old it is etc etc etc, it will always (and rightly so) be associated with that awful day in 1989.

For City fans who were Maine Road regulars now that you've been at the Ethiad for a long time would you prefer to be back at MR, and if so what is the reason, nostalgia?

I'd like to think I'd go back in a heartbeat but, we'd have never seen the things we've seen if we'd stayed there.

Time and demographics of fans moves on. I've been to your pad probably 10/12 times (my boys first ever away game was the 6-2) and although I've not set foot inside it for years, it was a bit knackered the last visit.

someone posted about a joint ground with the other lot....sounds great in principal but I'd rather go 'pop' than share with the rags.

I’ve been through what you’re going through and worse. I feel for any real football fan in similar circumstances. I was in my mid 40s when my club went through this and there were nights I went to bed in the early hours worries my team wouldn’t be there in the morning. Dreadful dreadful times!

I had a fantastic time at your stadium a few years ago (first of the two friendlies) and many wanted it to be an annual arrangement. Your support gave our support a standing ovation at the end. An all round great memory. There’s still many clips on YouTube

Having experienced it my only advice would be the support have to stay loyal. It’s the only thing that kept my club going. We had many obstacles put in our way by our own FA and absolutely no help from others (Linfield apart) but it’s possible to get through anything if the support stay loyal and remember YOU are the club! Players , management and owners will come and go but the support will always be there!

I wish you all the very best for the future and remember however far your team may fall if the support stay strong you’ll get back to where you belong

The corner section between Leps Lane and North stand could be done to get a few more in.

I miss Maine Rd and the area but the stadium was a joke by the time Swales had finished with it and as someone said we would still be living hand to mouth if not for this current stadium.

Again as someone has said the income generated is going to be almost every day yearly once the hotels up.

My Wednesday mates are getting giddy about a US takeover but cant see much reported?
Don't like asking them too much as they are all devastated with this shit goings on.

Has Bannan and other keys players gone? If so that's going to be hard even if new owners come in with no team left to speak of.

Bannan is out of contract but still training with the team, if you believe reports he wants to stay but as his contract has ended does that mean we can only pay him the max 7k per week for new players.

If so (if you believe the rumours) he's on 20k a week, as much as he wants to circumstances may dictate.

Regarding the US takeover, again it's being reported that it's Tilman Fertitta who owns the Houston Rockets, but as good as that seems after Chancer, I'll hold back until something is more official.

It's been reported that the iminent football debts are about £4.5m that he doesn't have, next week could see more happenings as the 15 day notice period is up so more players could walk away.

You forgot burnley Blackburn, trust me living in Burnley it’s serious hatred between both clubs

They could knock the Lepping Lane End down and rebuild the corners to increase capacity.
