Manchester Airport police assault trial | Man found guilty of assaulting two female police officers

They were all trained police officers. They tried to calm it and deal with them and arrest them. If someone doesnt want to be arrested and displays that amount of violence to them, where does it stop and how and what else do they do? Shoot him? No. Hes unarmed. Taser? Tried it. Back up? Hes headbutted one of them and shes fucked and not an option. Got to keep an airport full of people safe from them dicks and arrest them come what may, its their job they have to do it. No options left. Do whats needed. Very easy to critise if not in that position and moment. Not a fair view that, respectfully of course
The kick to the head seems overly gratuitous to me. The assailant was on the floor and the threat largely neutralised.

I totally understand it and to be honest in that situation I wouldn't have stopped with just one boot.

But I don't expect the police to behave like I would. Perhaps that's unrealistic.

No offence or criticism intended. Just my observation.

I think we expect too much of our police imho, if there would have been 3 male coppers on duty the outcome could have been different.

Neutralising the **** by any means would have been fine by me.

Please remember he was an armed officer under attack his main priority is to ensure that gun does not get taken.

I was one of those who was critical of the police officer on here when the initial footage emerged. The new video certainly makes it more understandable why he reacted that way, but still don’t think you can ever really justify stamping on someone’s head, even a twat like that. Anyway, hope justice is served.
The officer explained his actions in court and said he didn’t do the kick out of anger but out of an honest belief that he was trying to get up and didn’t want him to get to his firearm, this being after he raised his head whilst on the ground.

All a bit academic in relation to the various assaults committed by the twat, and irrespective of what the judge/jury believe about that aspect doesn’t change the fact he had assaulted multiple people before they finally subdued him, and he should be punished for all of that without any mitigation from how he was brought under control.

He's main intention should be to use the gun in that situation my opinion.

I'm no fan of coppers by any means, but if you're armed and faced with that level of violence and all that

We’ve discussed this endlessly, use of force is subjective and based on an honestly held belief-and has to be necessary and proportionate and in accordance with the law.

The CPS decided the officer used appropriate force. The police aren’t on trial here.

This was a relentless, violent attack on police officers attempting to make arrests. There is no defence the defendants can reasonably raise-

That so much of the debate on social media focuses on the sex of the officer is pathetic.

Supposed you could have said there was no threat when that poor accused bloke was just buying his parking ticket…. And then look what happened..

I know the initial reaction was one to blame the old bill for the stamp on the head and on first look does look like gratuitous violence but after watching it and the testimony of the officers it’s easy to see why he’s reacted like that after the level of sheer violence shown to him.
When your in a scrap like that all human instinct comes to the fore and you do what you can to survive.

Plus he was discombobulated after being sucker punched a few times.
Hope they get a proper sentence for this wicked assault.
