It's Quiet the £250m return

Could we buy him and loan him out till we make a decision on Ederson or Ortega after this season?
We could but we won't.
We could always buy him and leave him where he is for a season.
I doubt we will do this and cannot see the benefit from Trafford viewpoint.

No way he replaces Pickford currently. If he goes WC as likely 3rd choice that would be unaffected with his potential role at City.
Ederson gone in 12 months so would be silly to miss out on him, assuming good enough, a point I have no idea about

If he plays well then he will replace Pickford. At City I am not sure Pep would play him at all, which seems to be a big problem currently at the club.

I don't think we are linked to him,and don't think he'd want to sign for us, but if Pep doesn't see what he wants from a keeper why would we try and buy him.Isn't a problem.

I don’t think we are interested. I just commented that it would make minimal sense for him to want to join us. We have clearly been having problems with buying players that Pep does not like or favour. Hence I wouldn’t be surprised if we bought someone that Pep yet again does not fancy playing.

Don't think we do have that problem.

I think Pep’s team selection, including at the CWC, shows his opinion on the majority of our recent signings from the past year.
But not Marmoush, Ait Nouri, Cherki, Echeverri, or Reijnders. It can't be Reis (who was a starting defender in the first game), or Gonzalez (who started the second). I am afraid that you are not speaking factually.

No ,it doesn't. I'm pretty sure next season, Marmoush, Cherki, Reijnders, Ait Nouri, Gonzalez, Khusonov will all play probably in descending order of games.Echeverri and Reis will most likely go on loan with Nypan and return next year when there is more room in the squad.
Using the CWC when Pep and more importantly his new coaching team were running over a squad of 28 some of who will be leaving is no indication of anything.

We can analyse the past 3 years of players we have signed and I honestly think Pep has only been satisfied with Haaland, Akanji, Ortega and Gvardiol.

If we are speaking factually from those listed above he played RAN and Reijnders consistently at the CWC. They are the ones that have a clear chance of being successful. Cherki as talented as he is, will be getting the “learn the Pep system” treatment as evidenced by playing 122 mins in 4 games. Thus at least two of the three new guys are liked by him.

Regarding our January players he has a clear stance against Gonzalez, Reis, and Khusanov. Seems ambivalent to Marmoush, who despite being great, does not fit his style or tactics when Haaland is fit. Finally, Echeverri had 6 months of being a training dummy, then now he got injured.

From the remaining players of Doku, Savinho, Nunes, Kovacic, Philips and Sergio Gomez - he only really used Kovacic, despite him not setting the world alight. With Savinho and Doku struggling with his demands.

Overall the evidence points far more towards the fact that Pep seems to either not trust or not like the majority of his signings he has been provided in the past years. Further evidenced by the uncles starting every week despite putting terrible performances last season. I don’t think we can blame him as he has been given some terrible substrates, but to deny that we have problems with playing our new signings is an abundant misdirection.

What do you know about the CWC in terms of our playing squad?

Agree to an extent with this post but surely Pep has the final say on signings in as he has to work with this etc? Gonzalez not playing more is baffling to say the least and besides a shaky 15 minutes against Chelsea, Khusanov i thought was our best defender for many games and then just vanished?

Have we finished in the this window or are City working behind closed doors for further recruitment

AK-47 had a bad 1st half away to Ipswich or someone like that and Pep has dropped him ever since.

I don't think he did though, his priority from February was to get us into the top 4.He found a system and a back 4 that worked Nunes, Dias Gvardiol and O'Reilly, with a box midfield 4. He stuck with that for the run in and Khusonov wasn't in it ,simple as that really. It was working so he stuck with it.

Yep true combination of things. Same time after some good performances AK had a shaky away game 1st half (away to Bournmouth I think in FA cup in March when we were 1 down won 2-1) and hasn't played since is the black and white of it.

Even more confusing than that was we were on a roll and had a solid defensive setup with O'Reilly, Gvardiol, Dias and Nunes and Pep tinkered with it to fit Akanji in and we had a really bad game at Southampton away.

Honestly it pains me in many ways , but I wouldn’t say no to
Stones
Kova
Gundo
Akanji
All bringing an offer to go.
Pep has to try and integrate the new lads.
Fuck knows how it will work out but we need to shift a few or his job gets harder trying to keep everyone happy and healthy.
