EDIT:
Great news that he'll be staying and although I doubted him leaving my view still stands.
-------
I'll be absolutely flabbergasted if these rumours are actually true and Nico O'Reilly's exit is allowed to happen, personally I believe it's a load of bollocks but then again I thought the Palmer exit talk was bollocks too.
Without any exaggeration though having someone like Nico O'Reilly with an obvious strong physicality and big mentality available, it's the potential difference between winning the league and not, he gives his all and can bully teams he can play a part and have a real impact for us.
We without a shadow of a doubt we need determined young blues to give their all while wearing our shirt with pride, if we let Nico O'Reilly slip through our fingers while spunking £70m on somebody who won't be as good as him... that'll be proper bobbins.
I'd go as far as saying a travesty as he's not just a physical and mentality monster, he's also technically skilled capable of playing in multiple roles down the middle, that's without his very strong left back games and attacking down the flank for us, those performances from him last season were truthfully vital for us and he can be very useful.
We 100% need to keep O'Reilly I feel so strongly about him being ready to be a valuable member of the first team squad now, the only debate is whether he's got the stamina to keep up the intensity of his performances to a high level the whole 90 mins.
Someone like Nico doesn't need to be rushed in the slightest to become top drawer but nor does he need to be wrapped in cotton wool, there should be plenty of minutes available to go around for him next season and should be reassured of chances to impress, there's no excuses for allowing him to leave if it's allowed to happen, which I do doubt if it does through we should seriously hang out head in shame.
He'll be a bigger goal threat and make teams worry more than most the old the old guard, without him I honestly doubt we would've qualified the UCL last season.
He was so important in winning valuable points his all round ability has been obvious from his earliest youth games, it was just a matter of whether he relied on that superior strength too much while playing at those age groups.
He's stepped up to the men's game and has held his own against men strong physical opposition and comfortably too, anything less than Nico O'Reilly staying a Manchester City player for the long-term doesn't make sense at all
He will be a truly important top class player for us if developed right.
