That, or they are Turkish barbers that say they’re on benefits. They probably got some money from inheritance or something.

It was a tongue in cheek post. People like this obviously have a revenue stream outside of HMRC’s knowledge. The neighbours, not the Turkish barbers. The majority of "Turkish" barbers are not owned by people of Turkish nationality - most are Kurds. Of course all those people who moan about their existence could have gone to barber school and opened up their own but its easier to sit at home making accusations with no foundation. And I say this because I have a sister in law who has run a salon for nearly 40 years who admires their approach to hard work and her son who did an apprenticeship in a "Turkish" barbershop in Redcar @ 10 years ago - they are not a sudden phenomenon - and expressed an interest in becoming a tattooist and his employer pointed him in the direction of a tattooist who taught him the ropes and the lad now owns two successful tattoo parlours in Middlesbrough.

They don’t want to advertise what they do, so they say they’re on benefits to shut the conversation down and rile up the masses.
If I come across them I will attempt to find outI've been on benefits since my wife needed a wheelchair, and we just about survive. Could you please ask them what their secret is?
Never said that they got them through notability though did I. I honestly don't have a clue how they do it. They are obviously doing something untoward. They do seem to revel in the fact they don't work. And how do they get them? And before you answer PiP or Motability Range Rovers are not on the Motability list because they would be above the maximum PiP allowance for the scheme. As for the idea that people on benefits get quad bikes - I'll file this under things that never happened.
Before you makes such claims you can do some research you know.
I'm struggling-if its def money laundering how are they doing this when there are zero customers?A barber shop opened just around the corner from me a while ago. He turns up in his big BMW every morning, very nice car, and I'll be surprised if he takes more than £100 a day. 90% of the time I walk past, there is no one in there.
A few months ago, another barber shop opened on the other side of the road, and I've never seen anyone in there.
The hairdresser that cuts my hair, Lynn, works in a shop that's been an established business for twenty years or so now, you have to phone them to book an appointment, and it's always busy when I'm there.
It's bloody obvious what these 'barber shops' are about.
Money laundering.

It does seem odd. I checked and for whatever reason, you're right, no JLR cars on the scheme for some reason, although other expensive cars are, so I'm not sure price is the reason. And how do they get them? Tbh it was area of law I found complex and confusing-but for it to work here surely there has to be money laundered-ie spent and received in order for it to be 'washed' otherwise in the poster's argument its just spent...unless of course the business represents an 'assest' that later be realised-but I dont imagine that was the point he was making..simply it must be illegal, which it may be in circumstances but its really a trope.some people recognise the term money laundering but seem to not know how it works
It is bizarre, but our resident angry black hole of indignant manufactured stupidity sucks the conversation out of this place, and as a consequence makes unlikely bed fellows. It's a bizarre world when you and I find ourselves agreeing more often than disagreeing! Well, I do anyway. Maybe I'm putting words in your mouth ;-)
Seems a long time since we just hurled insults at each other, and all the better for us now not. Have a good evening, Fumble!

It is indeed a bizarre world. Right now we have one working group headed by Dominic Grieve trying to define Islamophobia, in order to frame a new law prescribing what we cannot say about Islam. And another group working on how we can refine our freedom of speech laws so that we can say the things Grieve's lot will tell you you can't.It is bizarre, but our resident angry black hole of indignant manufactured stupidity sucks the conversation out of this place, and as a consequence makes unlikely bed fellows.
The left believe that if they police what we say, redefine words at will, make them up or ban words they don't like, they can not only control every debate, close one down or deny its existence but they can refashion material reality itself.
There's no room for ethnicity in socialism and there's no room for it in a Blairist citizens of the world kumbaya either.
Solution for our resident Mr. Angry? Ethnicity doesn't exist or if it does it's of so little import that only racists bring it up.

Do you honestly believe benefits could fund such an expensive lifestyleWe have a family living round the corner from us. The couple both have brand new Range Rovers with private number plates, matching quad bikes. The pair are covered in expensive tats. Always wearing designer gear, get takeaways almost every night. None of them have ever worked a day since they moved in and are only to proud to tell you that they are on benefits.
There are those that cannot work and those who won't. Before we consider stopping the boats how about dealing with what's happening on our own doorsteps
