Personally, if we are forced to lose a foreign centre back, I would say goodbye and thanks to Akanji and keep Ake, who has more pace and a knack of clearing off the line. Also a good option for converting corners. Just my opinion.
Ake’s classed as home grown moved to Chelsea when he was 16. If we’re getting rid of a non home grown centre half, it has to be Akanji no doubt.

If a post on a City forum is what’s depressing to you, then I envy you.

At risk of seeming like I have to explain myself, my point was that if Akanji was RB, he was staying there. Citing the Munich games for reference when he was a traditional full back and told to simply defend against Coman/Gnabry/Sane.

That 22/23 season was one of the first times Pep went from all out attack to sitting back and inviting pressure if we got ahead in a game. Because we had 4 out and out defenders on at all times between Akanji, Walker (rarely because of the change in tactic), Stones, Dias, Ake. Stones was the only one who’d venture out into midfield but even that was to create an extra body in there to shield the defence and allow those in front to work their magic (as I said originally).

The four CBs was such a thing that Arteta then tried copying it hence seeing Ben White at right back. Or Timber at left back.

Once Cancelo left midway through the season, we went more rigid defensively and it helped us across the line because we were so strong that season.

We played four defenders to play offensively.

That is all.

Should be moved on in light of our issues with available NHG spots. Has been going downhill with his performances and there is no real need for him anymore.

Him just playing RB isn't a problem defensively imo.

It's when he plays RB and he's expected to contribute to the attack that the issues start.
Agree he is ok there he was poor last season because he was playing through the pain of an injury just because of our injury record

I have never hate a city defender like this guy I still don't know what pep sees on him is it the big body he has even he can win headers too lazy on running and too lazy to score some goals in corners. We have very young defenders on our squad but the manger is prioritising old CB like this guy who will surely go away after his contracts ends I don't think he goes when he is pep favourite . I would pick Ait Nouri-Josko-dias-khusanov as the pairing keep reis as a stones replacement .
'Hate' is a very strong word particularly when applied to a current player from the team you purport to support.
'Don't rate' might be more appropriate.

Have you been watching with your eyes closed?

His best performances came at RB when Stones pushed in to the midfield and Akanji became the Right sided defender covering the right channel. He was superb in that role against Bayern in the treble season. Big reason Walker was benched

Very good defender, gash at coming forward which is more on pep than him.

Was it Madrid at home in 2024 (1-1 lost on pens) where he had loads of the ball in midfield and it kept stunting our attacks because Madrid were happy for him to have the ball so they could have a man extra elsewhere? It was painful.

How did you feel when we replaced Keith Curle with Kit Symons? , odd to hate Ankaji more than any other CB we have had given some of the dross who have lined up for us, Beesley, Wassal , Kernahgan ,

Ake is not foreign. He plays for a foreign country. But he is home grown
