Tino Livramento

If I was a Newcastle fan id be much more missed that Liverpool seemed to have turned Guehis heas then Ekitike, they need a new CB more than a new striker (if Isak stays)

Ekitike is a risk at €90mil, but shows they have money to spend they aren't quite as restricted as its made out
They never have been with revenue and player sales they are always PRS compliant, this summer they can spend what they have saved in the last 3 years beingg frugal.

it was Klopp who liked the underdog narrative and wouldn't go all out, but when. needed he spunk money on plyers then went bacl. to the we're poor bullshit.

Clubs like the rags, red scouse and arse will always be able to spend a shitload PRS is designed that way, its another protection racket for the top 5/6 including us and chelsea

You wonder why they haven't brought in Guehi, who they were trying to bring in last year, and is now a year closer to the end of his contract. And now, surprise, surprise, Liverpool are being linked.

Tbh, I'm surprised everyone isn't in for Guehi. He's 25, probably the best available English CB, and has a short contract so would be cheap. Chelsea especially. You're not telling me he's not an upgrade on Chalobah and Colwill.
Palace want 60M or nothing.

They are getting done over by PSR like Villa last year.

It is designed to help the red shirts, this is why the arse and scousers can spunk all this money, even the rags, while claimimg ppverty can splsh the cash, admittedly due to. us being finacially sound and woth the academy set up then ourselves and chelsea
also bypas this stiffler to clubs building on success.

Newcastle shouldn't need to sell any of their top players, but are beong stiffed by this shite rule
Exactly
PSR would not stand a chance in any other business environment as it effectively removes competition and ensures the status quo is maintained. It positively discourages wealthy foreign investors as their ability to invest and therefore compete with already successful clubs is blocked at source.
Hopefully other teams are waking up to the reality and at some stage a legal challenge to the process happens.
It needs to go.

They are selling Nunes and have lost Jota (RIP) they are looking for 2 strikers, all the reports are they want Isak and Ekitike not one or the other
Where has that been reported? Can't see anything from Ornstein and can't see anything that they would want two no9 . This is from Andy Jones in the Athletic piece about them advancing for Ekitike.

They didn't have a real no 9 last season - Nunez wasn't preferred there by Slot.

Don’t think they do want 2 and even if they did doubt they could afford Isaak and Ekitike.

This shows how silly Newcastle have been this transfer window. PSR has been the restricting factor in their ability to buy and improve contracts. They could have sold Livramento at a reasonable price of 60m and they wouldn’t have had problems. I would bet we would still do it at 68m. Now they have lost out on long list of targets due to it. They could have easily sold Isak for 120m and rinsed the scousers as well. Terrible window from their sporting director.

They bought Livramento for the best part of £40m not so long ago.
He's a young talent they want to keep.
Same with Isak.
A good run in this years CL is what they need.

Both of them are important players but they need to improve in other areas and both could have been used to remove the PSR limitations. Isak especially is more replaceable, but Livramento could have been a good deal as well.

Now they missed out on their targets and have a player (Isak) who is discontent and unlikely to sign to stay there. Hard to get a good run if your team has not improved.

They won't improve by selling Isak, for example, and bringing in 2 or 3 players instead of him.
The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, arsenal have bought several top players and the gap is too wide.
Imagine Isak going and bringing in 3 players yet at the same time Wirtz, Frimpong etc are making their way to Liverpool.
Newcastle need to sit it out for a season or two and build their squad without losing their better players.
Newcastle wound be better off in the short term bringing in 2 PL players on loan and consolidating a top 6 position.

was some journos when Ekitike was reported, a few comments that Isak was still a target.

tbh who fucking cares? we are not after him and could not give a shite if liverpool go for him or who they sign.

my only concern is it hampers Livamento leaving.

Completely agree with that. It's baffling how poorly Newcastle have navigated this window given the clear constraints of PSR - which they knew before the season ended. The club seems paralysed by financial limitations yet unwilling to make the difficult but pragmatic decisions that could have freed up room to manoeuvre.

Selling Livramento for £60–70m would have been probably been a smart move — a strong profit on a player and a sale that wouldn’t have significantly weakened the core squad. Instead, they’ve clung to assets while watching priority targets slip through their fingers such as Mbuemo, Ekitike, Pedro and others.

Instead, they’ve ended up caught in the middle, a club unable to buy, unable to extend key contracts, and with little to show for it so far. It’s a clear failure of strategic planning and the kind of window that sets a project back, not pushes it forward, but I suppose what are they supposed to do? They aren't the big player in the market due to FFP/PSR sustainability rules. Unlike their rivals, their spending power is tightly capped and unless that changes, it's only a matter of time before they’re overtaken by clubs like Chelsea, Spurs, and United, all of whom have far more financial flexibility and room to manoeuvre within the rules.

I said on here weeks back that this will be the season Howe is seen as a limiting factor at Newcastle.

His seemingly insistence on wanting Prem proven players when they are the most expensive players in Europe is baffling.

Where is the scouting?

You cannot complain about PSR when you are spending near on £60m for average players like Elanga.

Can’t be insisting on PL players they want Ekitike didn’t they?

I know its £20m plus but they need to get it somewhere else if they need it.
Livramento will strengthen their team or , at least , be worth a lot more next season, when they will have a better idea of their ongoing goal
