Tbf he's just doing what many of us have done in these situations " thinking with his dick ", but hopefully he will retain his professionalism when it matters.

I have not been convinced by his performances over the last 24 months. I think we should bed in the younger players this season and cash in on him next summer. That is if his performances are at a similar level.

Perhaps his off-field conduct sets an example of exemplary behaviour around the squad.
Perhaps we know that his leadership will be needed more than ever if we are to bed-in the younger players we have brought in.
We base too much on last season; Dias has been a super player for us.

What’s he done lately to deserve a new contract?

Nothing, but his contract ends in 2027 and he is still a valuable asset that could go for a decent price if he continues his current form. If he improves to his 2-3 seasons ago level we have a great CB.

We either offer him a new contract, sell him or let his contract run down and let him go on a free.

His last ditch defending definitely doesn’t suit our style of play and hence his lack of pace means he’s constantly caught out on a high line. His main strength is getting blocks in and high fiving his fellow centre back. Not sure he’s what we need long term but like an earlier post said he still has some value so you wouldn’t not extend his contract.

Despite that, I still don’t know how he managed to not score an own goal in the CL Final so for that alone I shall be eternally grateful.
