Will we win the league this season?

If we clear out some players ie Kovacic, Akanji, Gundogan, Ederson, Stones or Ake and we sign a GK, RB, CM and maybe a CB we stand will definitely win. Until then we are competing with the rest

Not a chance we are winning the league next season. The shocking recruitment since the treble has left us with a squad not capable of a title challenge.

The majority of the £400m signings since January won’t even be in the starting 11 on the first game of the season, some won’t even be on the bench.

Rodri could take months to get back to anything close to his best - the thought of Trafford being number 1 and joining with no pre season with us is mind boggling and not sorting a right back out is negligence.

Looking forward to the new season but it’s gonna be a top 4 challenge.
We will comfortably come top 5 imo. Winning the title won’t be likely though

The last two FA Cup finals have been there for the taking.

The 2024 was an absolute disgrace turning up hungover after the 4 in a row. Ffs could they not just have waited a week to celebrate, and in what I'm 99% certain would have been a domestic double. That one still irks me.

Last seasons final was a combination of our Kryptonite - the fast break; being royally screwed over when Henderson should have seen red ( a fix if ever there was one) and Haaland not have the cojones to take that penalty. So yes we should be 2 FA cups to the good.

As for Europe we were shafted and unlucky so many times I've lost count from the coach wrecking, the Spurs handball, the Raz disallowed became Sergio was supposedly offside, the Lyon player fouling Laporte and scoring, bloody Real Mardarses having more lives than a cat against us, to last seasons shytte show of our own making. And that doesn't include the Pep Piece de Resistance of feckinh with the team selection in the 2p21 CL final. Which in turn led them to becoming WClub Champs last week.

Hold a footy grudge? MOI? You betcha!!!
Perfectly said on all counts.

We have succeeded so many times despite others undermining us, so when we do it to ourselves it is very frustrating.

If they stay jammy with injuries like they did last year, I wouldnt be surprised if Dippers win a double plus including the PL. They've been methodical and efficient and now they have that CF they needed. Hopefully, we can sort out the one shot, one goal problem and be more attacking to have a good go at top 4.
I would like us to turn the one shot, one goal the other way around with us scoring. Normally it is us with 20 shots and score one goal I would also prefer to swap around.

I have changed my mind. Not any easy task but If we sell Ederson this season then not a chance. Ortega and Trafford aren't good enough. It took two seasons to find Hart's replacement.

You make it sound like these players are playing defense for the opposition or like they score an average of three own goals every game. It's silly to suggest our chances of winning or loosing the league depends on how quickly we clear out players who have contributed to getting us where we are now. Since when did those players become bumbling liabilities? Yes they have struggled with fitness issues and have lost a pace or two but those names mentioned are worldclass anywhere in the football world.

Akanji, Stones and Ake can still play for about 5 more years in any other league outside the PL and I believe they can still contribute here this season and probably next season, it all comes down to Pep managing his expectations and using them the right way. Let's not be too quick to discard players all because we have Khusanov and a few youngsters.

Experience goes a long way not just in football but in every sporting activity, you saw what the 38 year old Usyk did to the 27 year old Dubois, right? Different sports but surely the physical demands of boxing outweighs the physical demands of football and none of those players are even close to 38 yet. Winning or loosing the league has nothing to do with how quickly we move those world class players on.

Yet we were second highest scorers in the league, and obviously playing against packed defences it will, take more attempts to score than playing against open teams. As for conceding we conceded 3 more than liverpool . Perceptions aren’t reality.
Kind of agree but if you create a chance against a packed defence we need to be more clinical our conversion rate has to be higher than in an open game when at least you know you’ll get another chance

Difficult to tell know given the size of the squad and the number we have to lose before the season starts

I think what happens next will be instructive of which way the club is heading

I think if all the older players stay and we loan out the newer players then Pep will have got his way which based on last season will probably mean another season of transition

If we go with youth then the club is looking beyond Pep which will set us up for the long term in a much better place than today. We will which of know the new players are good enough to take us forward , although next season may still be one of transition

Unfortunately I think the club will back Pep which may end up with him leaving the club at the end of the season

Big six weeks coming up

if we don't sign a right back then there's zero chance of winning the league. Even if we do it's still only small chance. There's too many problems with this squad

We don’t have the quality at the back anymore to supplement the high press we play, we will leak goals all season. Top 5 yes, win the league likely not (but who knows?).

Can't argue about players the dippers have brought in, but you are missing the point that city have not only recruited new players, we have a raft of players returning from from injuries that were badly missed last season.
No no, I agree entirely that we too have strengthened and have players back from long terms absence. I was merely stating that the Scousers will unfortunately pose a huge challenge to overcome with their improvements
