What’s ur point ? Thats what I just said
I was agreeing with you. I hope that’s ok….

Having looked at the list Ederson only comes in at 36 so what does that tell us.....£40m will make Trafford the 5th most expensive gk in history. He is not in the top 50 gks in Europe.
Sums up our transfer strategy in the past 3 seasons. Building a Europa League quality team
Since Ortega is rumored to be going the other way I guess it could be some negotiating with "if we pay this you can pay that" as well.I think we are negotiating as there was a sell on fee of 6 million or 25% I think, so probably trying to get that off the 40 mill. Since he's coming back to us. Newcastle were quoted 30 + 5.
'Unc' TraffordAs long as we get rid of him before he ages. We don’t want Old Trafford any where near the club!
Hopefully Ortega does go the other way to help the negotiations, but this time last year he had some decent suitors so I’d be surprised if he was prepared to drop to Burnley’s level.Since Ortega is rumored to be going the other way I guess it could be some negotiating with "if we pay this you can pay that" as well.
He won’t be in the top 10 GKs in the PL. Maybe he might be in 5 years - but at the moment not good enough for an elite team.Who decides who the top 50 goalkeepers are ? Fees over time and ability don’t correlate due to the fact not every player moves not every player moves at their peak and player values go up over time
From what I can tell and have watched I’d say his floor is probably ramsdsle level. But his ceiling is probably courtois level.
At 22 years old it’s impossible to see where he will get to but I think it is worth the gamble personally.
The fact he is hg and has a connection with the club makes it more appealing
I think Ortega will start the season but by season end Trafford will be the no1
Always best to pre judge with little evidence or I presume you watched a lot of Burnley last season and saw all his errors and weaknesses ? Please expand. He won’t be in the top 10 GKs in the PL. Maybe he might be in 5 years - but at the moment not good enough for an elite team.
If we are signing him to be first choice then it’s yet another downgrade signing

If we bought a 22y old Spanish GK who had been called up twice in the last few months the Spanish national team he would most likely not go out on loan no.Would it be fair to say if Trafford played for Spain U21s, was relegated and dropped in his first La Liga season but then regained his place and won the Secunda that if we bought him he would be going straight back out on loan and not into our 1st team?

We are building a team for the future though. This signing is a signing with the future in mind. It's a signing for the next 3-5 years, not necessarily the immediate. He won’t be in the top 10 GKs in the PL. Maybe he might be in 5 years - but at the moment not good enough for an elite team.

Eddy is very underappreciated - as is Trafford. Just a stats based exercise I think, Trafford playing outside the top flight would explain his absence.Having looked at the list Ederson only comes in at 36 so what does that tell us.....
We haven't agreed to pay the buyback fee?Reach and agreement on fee? Is he simple - we've got a buy back

I don’t know that’s my point I didn’t watch Burnley once last season, so can’t really make any judgement on his ability or temperament, I can only assume the club and our goalkeeping coaching team have, I don’t even know if the plan would be for him to go straight into the first team or not.Sorry for butting in

I can’t get away from this being an odd signing. Maybe because no one else is out there but I can see it going very wrong very quickly
We might be involving Ortega if Burnley do want him.No, he’s not simple. We are negotiating a fee that is lower than the buyback.
