Liverpool have made an offer of €80 million (£69 million) plus add-ons for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.

Sky Sports News understands the total package in this offer could rise to €90 million, which is around £78 million, but talks continue over the structure of the add-ons.

Would be quite pleased to see them spill that kind of money on this lad given his goal scoring record to date. Odd. Infinitely more comfortable for us than them getting Isak.. Hopefully puts an end to that talk!

They’ve a new left back, new right back, new midfielder and a new striker. For them all to be hits in their first season has to be statistically unlikely

When we signed Bernardo, Ederson, Walker and Danilo in one summer. It took Bernardo a few months to get going and we let Danilo go after 1 season.

I can’t think of any other comparison unless I do back to the Silva, Yaya, Kolarov and Boateng summer - even then Boateng left after 1 year

Genuine questions which XI is better

Alisson
Trent Konate VVD Robertson
Mac.A GravenB Szobo
Salah Diaz Gakpo

Marma
Frimpong Konate VVD Kerkez
Mac.A GravenB Wirtz
Salah Ekitike Gakpo

Note the 2nd team isnt gonna have Jota ans potentially (likely?) Nunes and Elliot, plus no Quansah

Is Ekitike better than Diaz? He's only had 1 good season he may not even be Nunes level

Are the 2 full backs better than the 2 who've shone the last 7 or so years

Is this keeper really gonna repalce Alisson, who was arguably the best keeper in the world

Big risk after for Slot after spending THAT much money on that XI

Changing half the team is a risk be interesting how they start, couple of early defeats and the pressure is on straight away.

I think their net spend will be less than 100m this summer

They sold Quansah or whatever his name for 35m

In addition to that Luis Dias & Nunes might get them close to 100m

Harvey Elliot for +30

The new full backs are what id worry about if I was a Liverpool fan

Whatever you think about them, Arnold and Robertson were statistically among the best in the league in any position in terms of creating chances. They created a lot of chances for that team.

Now they're going to have to hope two new full backs can just slot straight in and hit the ground running in terms of creating chances in the same way the last two did. Id say that's a hard task.

Don't forget the next installment of the Coutinho money.

And they will get a large insurance payout.

People are going on as if they've signed Kaka, C Ronaldo, Modric, Marcelo and Alonso. They've signed Wirtz, who's nowhere near KDB or D Silva, Etikite who's nowhere near Haaland, Kerkez who's a similar level to Ait Nouri and Frimpong who's nowhere near Kyle Walker. People are just too excited these days.
If they get Isak, fair play but Ekitike is ok, nothing more.

Those plucky Dippers, punching above their weight on a shoestring budget. Brings a tear to my eye.
Strong rumours isaks head been turned by the ferals,Wonder if there will be any city type headlines about buying the league or chequebook manager jibes, somehow I doubt it.

Copium mate they’ll slot (pun intended) in just fine.
