As an 11 year old lad (1984ish) my dads mates used to take me in The Osborne(Dad had to work) for the pre match before we headed to the kippax at 2.59 pm! Never any earlier! Great memoies of smoke filled rooms, piles of cash on the cards table, outside drinking on the street and the pub emptying if any away fans wanted to have a go!
I now go to the games with a group of lads who used to drink in the Gardeners around that time....they are great lads( 1 of them can be a bit grumpy) and we have won it all together. We are always arguing about which was the best pub...(Osborne obviously) However they have no photos of drinking at the Gardeners or any photos with a flag so your posts are brilliant to wind them up so just wanted to say thank you!
