Will we win the league this season?

We'll know in May next year.

Maybe we will, maybe we won't, but as an old git that remembers the fun of numerous relegations, I don't care if we do or don't. Winning the FA Cup in 2011 was enough for me after decades of pain.

I'll be there, cheering on the Blues, like I have over the last 60 years.

I might not know who will win the league this season — no one truly does. The Dippers are looking strong and have strengthened from a position of strength and we can not deny that they are a serious threat. But what I do know is that the quality across the top six and other teams is unreal . The level of talent in this league right now is off the charts. It’s going to be spectacular. Exhilarating. Nerve-wracking. A true blow-for-blow battle, week in and week out.

One thing I’m certain of, though — no matter how wild it gets, City will be there. Focused. Relentless. Doing what needs to be done. As Pep puts it best:

“We’ll be there"

Dippers showing how to strengthen while on top. If they get Isak then everyone else will be playing for CL. We really fucked up majorly to build on our success. Oh well, it was a helleva ride we still might pick up the odd domestic cup.

I wouldn't underestimate the monumental pressure that team and manager are under next season, especially if they get Isak.

If they don't win a major trophy, Slot is sacked.

For the first time since the 90s Liverpool are going into the season as favourites, and the last time that happened in that decade, they bottled it every time.

I think we have to as next season I have a feeling based primarily off law of averages that Arsenal will finally do it and also that squad has become even more experienced as a unit. We can take the piss as much as we like but being runners up three years on the trot is not too shabby
They've experienced a lot of failure..

If Foden and Rodri can return to the form they had in the 23/24 season we might have a chance. Hopefully that could spark the new recruits and also a lot more out of Doku and Savinho. We are a lot better equipped than we were last season, unfortunately so are the main two protagonists in Liverpool and Arsenal.

Some wet wipes on this thread

The league is never easy to win and should not be.

People going on about dippers and tarquins strengthing, so they should as we have. The league is awash with money.

We will be up there and we have a manager who has seen it and done it all

Let battle commence

Every team is in a state of flux. Liverpool were champions by default and with Salah and Van Dijk 33 and 34 years old respectively, they looked vulnerable. Van Dijk will be a chink in their armour; his mobility is declining, but now we have to reckon with Wirtz and perhaps Isak. If they do sign Isak, then Diaz and Nunez will be sold, and the extent of the change might become problematic.

The top 4 looks like it will be stronger. Delap and Pedro appeared sharp for Chelsea at the Club World Cup and the much vaunted Gyokeres arrives at Arsenal. This must be the season that Arsenal challenge, or Arteta's time will be over.

City bought for the future in January, and in June we bought 3 strong attacking players. We are in transition. Can Reis or Khusanov come through, will Rodri return to his best, and will Ederson stay at City? City's attacking potential is evident but dare Pep attack if the defence is weak? Some bemoaned walking football but without Rodri, and Stones, what did you expect? Khusanov, Reis are a work in progress, Rodri rehabiliates and Ederson's future is to be resolved. There are many defensive question marks. We might compete once more but few blues will be confident. City will likely be stronger, may be much stronger, but Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea have strengthened too.

You wet wipe City with bravado and it doesn't wash.

Far too many question marks to be confident about winning the league for me. Liverpool got to be strong favourites at the moment but you never know, decent chance Salah and van Dijk might drop off a bit with an extra year in their legs and Salah bagging a new contract

I was massively confident we're back after the Juventus win but that confidence all but went after we got knocked out by al hilal. With early games against Spurs, united and arsenal we should have a reasonable idea as to whether we've got a chance next season or not by the end of September
Liverpool players may also be mentally impacted by the tragic loss of Jota, although this could work both ways and inspire them to win it for him.

Ok Marvin, what’s going on.

Bravado, I’m just not a soft **** worrying about stuff that has not happened.

To some it seems we have dropped from a club winning 4 on the row and the rest to outsiders.

Most who do that tend to be new arrivals to City so there is that to factor in.

nah, they were not as strong last year as a PL win margin is showing. They been really lucky with no injuries and as a football unit they not been at the crazy high level as their cups and UCL runs showed.

People creaming about LFC business but its basically 1 for 1. TAA out, Jota tragically out of a picture, Robertson will be gone as well as probably Nunes and Diaz. Both Van Dijk and Salah getting older, Konate maybe a little unsettled cause of contract, their midfield is weaker on the paper than ours (Rodri, Reijnders > Gravenbech, Macallister). Its gonna be interesting how gonna looks a comparison of Cherki/Marmoush and Wirtz/Szoboszlai.

With Haaland up top Im not really worried about their Ekitike/Isak combo, let alone according to Ben Jacob its still like 50/50 whether Newcastle allows Isak to go or massively improves his contract.

We'll be third or fourth despite your Henry V.

So in a thread specifically convened so Blue Mooners can state whether they think we will win the league or not (and provide reasons why/why not), anyone who doesn't think we will is a 'wet wipe' or a 'soft ****'?
FFS.......

If we are going to win the league this needs to change. Need to stop teams doing this to us.

Manchester City in the Premier League from 2018 to 2024 conceded an average of 2.9 expected goals from counter-attacks. However, last season, the number rose to 8.1, which was the second-worst figure in the league last season, with only relegated Leicester City having a worse figure of 8.2.

True, but easily explained. Rodri effect + injuries across the defensive line

A lot have given up without a ball being kicked,

That for me is being a wet wipe and a soft ****

I think that was down to the way they played. They played with measured football unlike the helta skelter under Klopp. Nunes and Diaz are probably their weakest players but looks like they're dealing with that. Fair play to them, that midfield looks incredible and they look destined for success. Us,Arsenal and Chelsea will probably finish up the top 4.
