Think it is good for him to have a season competing with Ederson. Takes the pressure off a bit.

Good to see we finally taking advantage of using the buyback system with our youth players!! Would have liked to see this happen a few more times!!
 
So we waited till Newcastle's 27 mill got accepted and matched (as per the clause) and turned Traffords head. Din't we also have a sell on percentage?
 
Give Trafford the cup games and the early champs league games and let him grow to be no 1 next season when ederson leaves

I half joked about it a couple of months back, it just makes sense with the homegrown perspective.

I'm glad Ederson is sticking around, I think for 1 year it'll do them both some good. More learning opportunities for Trafford, competition for Ederson.

Probably means Ortega goes, which from a non-HG perspective is great but would wish him all the best, he's the best number 2 we've ever had and would start for a lot of teams. Newcastle should go for him.
 
If Eddy is indeed staying then I think this is a brilliant signing. Him being one of our own lads is a big bonus too

Could be our number one for a decade
 
Ederson #1 , get Trafford settled in and work with Ederson for a year before Ederson gets send off next May vs Villa
 
Ederson staying with Trafford arriving and Orerga going is the best possible outcome. We will have two no.1 keepers with different attributes. Allows to team to keep it's style of play if needed or change if required as well.

Gives time for Trafford to bed in with the experience of Ederson there and how he works with our defenders.

I personally think he’s here to be the number 1. Eddie (and maybe Ortega) will go and there’ll be another random Ortega-like signing later in the window.

We need a shot stopper now. One who happens to be comfortable on the ball but mainly good at saving shots.

Too often we dominate games but concede our first chance. Not a slant at Ederson/Ortega because usually the chances we concede and ‘high value’ ones (pardon the jargon) but they don’t tend to perform miracles. We need a keeper who has more chance of doing that.

IMO anyway.
 
I'm just wondering what assurances Trafford might have been given re game time THIS season. Will he be happy to be second choice for the majority of the campaign? If he'd gone to Newcastle, he probably would have replaced Pope as the first choice 'keeper there
 
Ederson staying. Interesting. A year together then he’ll go in 2026 when his contract ends.
 
Goalkeeper is the most important position on the pitch imho I hope we have got it right.

I’m always really nervous when a new keeper makes his debut for us!
