Apparently, it's all to do with them winning the premier league you see. That generates extra income. I know!......... I had no idea. MCFC have won the premier league four times in a row and this is the first I'm hearing about this extra income.
It’s actually mental how from many quarters in the media this argument is being ventilated for the first time.

The British public can't possibly be allowed to lump Liverpool FC into the same pot as MCFC.

When MCFC sign players the money comes directly from Sheikh Mansour's Current Account and the over-inflated sponsorship deals we're guilty of.

Liverpool FC being the wholesome family run club that they are live within their means and only buy players with monies they've earned.

You're spot on Gordon; the financial gymnastics that the British media are performing on behalf of LFC to convince the general public it's all legitimate is ridiculous.

Me thinks they do protest too much.

That's not how it works Chaddblue.

Liverpool are different.

Those helpful presenters on Sky Sports have been really helpful. They've done their research you see. They are very enthusiastically explaining how Liverpool FC can make these big money signings and still remain well within the limits of PSR and FFP.

Yes, Sky have been helpful. They have made sure that all their viewers get the full facts. Liverpool have also sold a couple of players which means, yep, they get income for that too.

Don't you worry about a thing. Liverpool FC are running their affairs on a thing called "net spend"

I've certainly been well educated by the diligence of those nice people at Sky Sports on how a football club should negotiate the transfer window.

Amazing isn't it?

They bend over backwards to make sure everyone knows how Liverpool FC can stay within the financial rules and the rags can use a second account "Red football LTD" to avoid any charges.

However, when MCFC buy a player the fuckers are up in arms about it.
You've forgotten about the 'European Royalty' bonus they get. Plus the 'this means more' allowance.

Proper little Shakespeare, aren’t you?

;-)

It’s not remotely staggering though, is it mate?

It’s completely and tediously predictable.
If a complete outsider were to cast an enquiring eye over headline about City and LFC they would be utterly perplexed.

Anyone with a remote knowledge of sports media in the UK wouldn't bat an eyelid.

We are literally one RB away from having a comparable squad to them
More than that IMO

All our (preferred) CBs are slow as fuck.

Dias, Akanji, Ake look like they are running in treacle at times.

We need a proper RB and either trust Reis and Khush. Or Invest in a top CB.

Yes exactly, we have the personnel bar the RB. Now it's down to the coaching staff

I’m not worried about them, even if they sign Isak. We should worry about ourselves, not other teams. Over the years that’s been the mentality of Pep and the players. Thats the reason why we got 90+ points in so many seasons.

We’ve got potential issues in numerous positions. But we’ve also got the talent to win the league and that’s without anymore additions. We’ve got to see if our key performers return to form and our new signings fit in.

They would.

And yet, there still remains amongst us, some on this very forum who cannot or will not see the agenda.

How can you read headlines like: "Money bags City" or "City on the splurge again" or "City blow the competition out of the water" when we're active in the transfer market.

Compared to:

"Liverpool FC strengthen while in a position of power" or "Liverpool FC rarely put a foot wrong with their signings"

Then there's the rags:

"Players will always be attracted to the famous Manchesniteh" or "This signing is the missing piece" or "These signings will guarantee the club returns to it's rightful place"

Anyone who claims they can't see it are being disingenuous as far as I'm concerned.

I got the new Scouse chestnut from 2 Scousers in work today.

"We didn't spend any money last season"

But, Liverpool lost £57mill in 2023/24.

Silence.

So a possible £460mill turn around over 2 seasons if the Isak sale happens.
