It's Quiet the £250m return

Really good take on Dias. Perfectly put - and will be perfectly ignored by the know nowts
Somehow Dias taking a few selfies is paramount to him losing focus.
He’s not a problem. Very good centre half and will come good again.
Look at van dijk at Liverpool,he has a consistent back four to play with and orthodox full backs every week plus two maybe three holding midfields in front of him.

Dias has either a midfield cum right back at full back and chop and change his centre half partner most weeks.

He’s a quality player and is the least of our issues..

Getting pissed off looking at all these constant selfies in women's clothing or whatever the fuck he's wearing.
Stop looking at them then you weirdo. You talking about them here is the first I’ve heard of it as I’m not a teenage girl and thus don’t follow footballers on instagram or whichever shite social media you’re seeing them on.

Haha my exact thoughts

I disagree. He fell short of his own high standards. Granted some of that was down to the additional cover he was asked to perform, however he made several unforced mistakes and was exposed on a number of occasions for a lack of pace and mobility.

I think he has made himself too muscle-bound and this has affected his game. Although he probably thinks it looks better in selfies

Throw big money at a position we don't need, that isn't the strategy that delivered a squad that delivered multiple trophies breaking multiple records over the last 10 years.
City have wasted plenty of money on crap footballers. Once a player of isak’s quality becomes available we should be in for him. It’s an opinion I won’t change. You can keeps yours.

So true. Fact is his slight dip in form is nothing to do with taking pics and selfies with his girl it is more down to 2 things:

1. What Bobby the blue said about lack of stability in a fixed formation at the back because we have had lots of injuries and have had to try and shoe horn midfielders into fullback positions. And...

2. When you have consistently won so much with the same group it is a little harder to be the motivational voice in the dressing room. In other words you need new players, younger hungrier players that you can lead. Looking at the inside the club videos you can see the same voices including the manager saying the same sort of things - naturally sometimes you will lose focus. For example when Mancini constantly read the riot act it spurred the team on but after a while it became white noise. The leadership group will now see a lot of new faces to inspire and hopefully that will bring everyone together - it is clear that to win things you have to be totally united on the pitch and in the dressing room.

Ruben has a big part to play this year especially as we have a much younger group - I have no doubts he will step up to that and if we can get off to a fast start it will be exciting to watch. We need his experience, he'll be fine.

Couldn’t have put it better myself mate!

Don’t spend your time gawping at the torrent of unfettered narcissism that pops up on the social media feeds of the rich and famous, and then whinge about the content.

No-one’s forcing you to look at it!

It’s like people on here whinging about Talksport, when they’re the fucking ones that keep tuning into it day after day.

Just don’t engage with it if you don’t like it.

It’s really fucking simple!

I think the system we played last year and lack of pace around him didn’t help him. That high line and a ball over the top was always going to hinder him.
I would argue the same would happen to van dijk or saliba if there respective teams played that way.
We need to find a way that adapts to the strengths of our centre half’s not have them on the turn the whole game and having them constantly coming into midfield and being the wall so to speak when passing.

Some of the greatest centre halves were not blessed with searing pace but asked to defend etc they could do it adequately.

Last season IS DONE.
Ruben Dias - quality player, multiple title-winner, on his holidays.
New players, new coaching staff, new season.
Come on you blue boys.

To be fair mate, you don’t have to be on any of the shite social media platforms to see them, they get copied in by the aggregators so although I scroll past they still appear on my X timeline regardless.

As per what I’ve just said on reply, City Xtra retweet so assuming you’re on X and follow the main City aggregators then you don’t get a choice.

Saliba and VVD are both much faster than Ruben.

Same goes for twitter mate. I came off that toxic swamp last November and my mental health is very grateful.

Utter bollocks.

Most of the defence (and team) struggled last season. There was no Rodri in front of them and they were completely exposed, especially with Walker out at RB and two midfielders attempting to replace him.

The year before we won the league and battered Madrid in the CL but somehow just couldn’t score after they’d not even had a sniff at our place. I’d agree that he wasn’t at his absolute best that season, but he certainly wasn’t bad by any stretch of the imagination.

I think sometimes people forget just how hard it is to sign high quality players, and then the reality that these players also have off periods as well. Looking at our list of defenders and he’d be near the bottom of those I’d be wanting rid of if I had to make changes. Akanji, Stones & Ake would all be gone before Dias taking into account injury records. He’s better than any RB we have defensively and any LB as well.

Players like Dias don’t go on trees and to get someone who’s delivered what he has would take a huge amount of money and from a team that probably wouldn’t want to sell.

Each to their own regarding the utter bollocks.

I understand a few points you are making regarding Walker and Rodri missing, Rodri obviously a massive blow for protecting the back four but alot of the times Dias has just made huge individual errors.

Stones and Ake you'd think would be the first two to go with their injury record, I don't see Dias as a commanding centre back, I think he needs leadership alongside him as we don't have a commanding centre half, we lack physicality and a centre back with aerial ability.

He's not the only one who has been poor, there's numerous others who has been the same, Dias set high standards when he originally joined and he's a shadow of what he used to produce.

Personally I think he's a weak link in our back line and it's a position we need to strengthen, Not signing a centre back and a right back in this window is going to cost us next season.

Weirdo hahaha another keyboard warrior, Would you call me a weirdo to my face? Doubt it very much as you'd end up on your arse.

I ain't on social media either at all (not that's anything to do with you). Take it you haven't heard of Google news and these things pop up...

You sound like a teenage girl with that post you fucking gimp.

I’m not sure van dijk is. He’s just very good at holding the attacker up and often using his body strength to get the forward off balance.
I stand to be corrected though just I’ve never got the impression he’s rapid.

That’s a stunningly wrong take
Otamendi was better in the air? They both get caught by pace & go to ground too quickly, both had decent partnerships with Stones.

Otamendi was also very very good for us for a period

I only use it for City and golf, just main couple of aggregators and the top journos like Ornstein and a couple of others.

I agree about it in general, it’s full of absolute bollocks, and mental health far better being away from it.
