Like I said, defensively suspect as they are looking to throw over 400 million pound on attackers
It's only pre-season, and they played with a different makeshift back 4 in each half, so I wouldn't take a great deal from getting beat 4-2 by AC today.

I want them to fail this season as much as everyone else but I don't think today's result is really a marker for anything significant.

It tells us than vanDick isn't able to do the work of 2 centre-backs, and outside of their starting back 4 they haven't got that much quality. We knew both of those things already, but we also know that their inhaler addiction sees them field a fairly regular back 4 most weeks.

Injuries to any of the 4 will be key to their success/failure I reckon.

Totally.
None of these clowns were tipping the scouse cunts to win it at the start of last season, it was us or the arse, now all of a sudden they are Brasil 1970 reincarnated,it's gonna be a multi team title race this year i reckon and i'm on the lads from Beswick!
All very standard for the time of year. Jun to September is when the dippers traditionally have the best squad in the world and have every major trophy sewn up before a ball is kicked. It either falls apart very quickly or shortly after they win the league at Xmas.

Spending money doesn't = Success
But Liverpool and United don't have the media questioning the amount of money spent on winning titles and cups

Questions have to be asked about how, after just one season, Liverpool can spend a lot of money on players. Klopp said Liverpool will never be able to spend money like City do ? I quote Klopp ? (It's not the Liverpool way)

They've always had money to spend.
They've always spent money

I think they are way overestimating how good gravenberch is and how much he's capable of doing the required job. he was not tested at all last season and this sort of gives them an inept sense of urgency about having to fix the fabinho hole they never actually addressed. i think they'll discover this season massive problems in defensive midfield

I do get the contrast in the media coverage that many of you are quoting but I really don't think all the negative ideas about how the season may progress have much weight to them.
The fact is it looks like we will change almost half the team. There is zero guarantee that they will all gel and be able to produce solid team performances.
Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.
I am more minded to think that last year was an aberration and that it will be a hell of a lot closer this year, even with the money we have spent.

They haven't spent much money compared to Arsenal, Utd and Chelsea.

Looking at Liverpool's squad, I think their achilles heel might be in central defence. Last season, we had one defensive injury after another there whilst VVD played almost every game. That's not just luck of course but it plays a part.

As impressive as some of their signings are, I think they might be found wanting defensively next season.

If they’re playing Frimpong as a conventional right back, lots of teams are going to have a lot of joy down their left-hand side.

I was with three Dippers at the cricket on Wednesday. They are concerned over the defence with only 3 options at CH and also generally a lack of height in the team. They did say that they expect Gravenberch to get even deeper this year.
