Liverpool are investing in their squad and that puts pressure on everyone else, but what they have not done is replace Van Dijk. That is a weakness. He's 34 and his game relies a lot on his physicality. Look what happened to Walker last season. Players who rely on physical prowess rather than technique will age badly.

Thaigo Silva ages well because he's a very technical defender. Kyle Walker on the other hand, suffered badly when his sprint speed went. Van Dijk will be like Walker imo. His form should be closely watched.

If you ever happen to talk to a deluded Liverpool fan waffling on about organic growth in a squeaky voice, read this information aloud to them in a powerful authoritive voice.

Liverpool FC significantly improved after the Moores family invested in the club, particularly during the John Moores era. John Moores, who also founded Littlewoods, became a majority owner in 1964 and his financial backing, combined with the success of the Littlewoods football pools, provided the resources for the club to build a strong team and achieve significant success, including multiple league titles and European Cups.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Financial Strength:
John Moores's wealth from Littlewoods allowed Liverpool to compete financially with other top clubs and invest in players and infrastructure.

  • Transformation:
Liverpool went from a struggling club to a dominant force in English and European football, winning multiple league titles and European Cups.

  • Legacy:
The Moores family's influence on Liverpool is well-regarded, with fans recognizing their crucial role in the club's success.

  • Not Without Challenges:
While the Moores family's investment brought great success, it also led to challenges in the later years, including the need for stadium expansion and the eventual sale of the club.

  • Transition:
David Moores, who took over from his father, eventually sold his stake in the club due to the financial demands of competing in the modern Premier League.

Have Liverpool become the equivalent of Real Madrid galacticos?

Spending money doesn't = Success
But Liverpool and United don't have the media questioning the amount of money spent on winning titles and cups

Questions have to be asked about how, after just one season, Liverpool can spend a lot of money on players. Klopp said Liverpool will never be able to spend money like City do ? I quote Klopp ? (It's not the Liverpool way)
it could be worse. It couldve been the hypocrite Bingo spending the money

Hi all,

Spending money is no guarantee of success. One could buy all the scratch cards in Manchester and potentially 'win' next to nothing.

Just look at the scum and the bitters!

I see a lot of rival supporters/fans who said TAA was our weak link defensively are now saying Frimpong will be the weak link!

Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez should not be forgotten about (in terms of right back! not weak link options!) ha

We've made some exciting additions but I'll be sad to see Diaz , Nunez or Elliott leave. Nunez is probably my favourite player to watch. Like watching Homer Simpson build a BBQ!

We won the league without really exerting ourselves towards the end - Arsenal did what Arsenal do.

SHOULD be more of a 3 horse race, on paper, this season.

Also for those that do. Stop reading bloody RAWK/Formerly Known As. No sane person goes there.

The champions tag weighs heavily through the season. You're not the Liverpool of the 70s 80s when you rolled everybody over with fear. Everybody will want a bit of you and want to take home points off you,

I see many changes to the normal top 4, Chelsea will be in the running for the title, Newcastle will be better, Arsenal now have a striker and will be hard to beat, City and Liverpool will have to hit the ground running and not drop many points early doors

My top 4 will be

Chelsea City Liverpool Arsenal, not in that order, but places

Half the team could be different from last seasons! so whilst the weight of being champions will be carried by some there are others that will have eagerness to impress. Both need to be embraced rather than feared.
Teams do tend to come with a plan but when the tempo is right we try to suffocate, harass and force teams into mistakes early.

I am not delusional. Just hope we give everything on the pitch and have no regrets at the end of the season. That is all a supporter can ask for.

I don't know what to expect from city. People talk about missing Rodri, which is fair, very few pundits/media and perhaps some supporters seem to appreciate the absence of KDB. I feel like he was injured a lot in the last 2 years but in one you managed to win the league. KDB absolute genius striker of the ball and needs replacing if that is even remotely possible!

Arsenal whilst having signed a striker do need to get back to playing how they were 3? years ago. They played quick attacking one and two touch football. They reminded me of the 2014 city.
They are so focused on physicality that they have become rigid and their play seems a lot slower and more methodical. Arteta needs to let them go out and play! they have the defensive structure and players to cope.

The amount of players Chelsea have is quite an hinderance especially when the team doesn't win. The ones who aren't being picked start to ask questions or cause issues.
They also don't convince me at the back atm. Plenty of time in the window to go though! to get players out and a new CB or two in.

They do create a hell of a lot and will probably batter a lot of teams into submission. A lot of pace.
Chelsea could be the ones, if like you say , we both take time to get going. It wouldn't be that big of a shock.

Diaz off to Bayern. That’s another one I’m glad to see the back of.

They’ll be all in for Isak now. That can’t lose Diaz and, respectfully, Jota, and only bring in Wirtz.

Anyway, whatever it takes to finish second I guess. :-)

I don't want Diaz to go. Seems we aren't willing to give him a new longer deal and he wants to secure his families future financially.

We have Ekitike, Gakpo and Nunez (who can operate on the left or down the middle).IF we get Isak then that would be sensational.

Personally i don't want to see the path to the first team blocked for Rio Ngumoha, Ben Doak and Jayden Danns. I mean if one has too many for one position then the chances of the younger players getting time in the early cup rounds is reduced.

I can see them getting Isak now.

Even with Ekitike, they will likely no longer have 3 offensive players from last season in Jota, Dias and Nunez.

And only brought in Wirtz and Ekitike, so they have room for Isak.

Insane attacking talent if they pull it off.

You were doing so well - until you mentioned “we have Nunez…….” Lol

The word on the street is Musk has bought LFC.

Didn’t realise but Liverpool signed David Ornstein in January
That guy makes carragher look neutral these days
Can tell by the way he puts the facts and then after it puts the PR line as well.
Love to know the base fee for Diaz, bet it’s about £50m

Once Salah fucks off, is it really that good?

Isak, Wirtz and Ekitike; looks more potentially very good than outright insane

Let's not pretend that any of them are world class, they've all got a lot to prove
